Hi thanks fir that my level was 43? Think it may if dropped again since Aug
I had h pylori which I’m on medicine for
Are you saying the b12 shits made you worse ? As I’ve found this to but mines constant throughout the day which is exhausting
Gp says my level is ok If it drops to 20 then I need iron but I’m pretyyy sure at this level it’s maybe causing my ear issues I had 2 days when it went it’s odd but this last 6 months it’s pretty horrific humming hissing I just can’t rest with it
I’m thinking on the days I was free if the noise then may be those days I outed my iron food intake ?
Can’t think of any other reason
What medication was you given ? To increase it was it tablets ferroius ?
Only in a multivit(200 mcg) 3 x a week as my blood test shows it's in range and never been lower than 9. Last one it was 20. Top of range 24. I cant seem to absorb iron vitamin d or b12 well but I can folate ?? Ot is deemed safe to take 200-400mcg daily of folic acid indeed women of child bearing age 400mcg daily.
Hi, I get that to the points it’s deafening , it irritates me so much but it always happens when my b12 is low. I can’t remember what my ferritin level was but my iron was 3.4. I gave up with my drs and now buy myself Methylcobalamin and adenocolbalamin mix tablets and take those as I going the cyancolbalamin just gave me painful cyst like lumps in my neck. I hope you find your way through as I know how much that ringing can affect you!
I have had tinnitus for many years, sadly none of the treatment for my deficiencies b12, d, folate, iron has made it any better. I have learned to live with it and don't find it so bothersome any more. Have you had your ears checked for wax as that makes it worse?
Yes, I have had iron supplements for years despite having a good diet, at times iron injections and infusion.
My doctor sent me to see a tinnitus specialist a few years ago, she helped me understand my tinnitus. I did try a sound masking tape for a while at night, I didn't find it helped me but it's worth trying.
Tinnitus is just the sounds in your head that everyone has but most aren't aware of, and once for whatever reason you've "switched on" to the sound, the switch stays on, the only thing that's worked for me is to except it, ignore it and stop worrying about it. It's not harmful, just annoying but you can just get used to it so it stops becoming such a big problem.
Having read through your thread there is a thought I have which is tinnitus, your noises in your head, may not be to do with b12, folate or iron deficiency. There was a very good friend of mine who was plagued by it without having deficiencies. She found relief from a Walkman playing her favourite music and also when she was playing the huge Hammond electronic organ she had.
My tinnitus, which is a hissing sound, is bad today. My B12 and folate will be high as I take a folic acid tablet every day and I do a B12 injection three days ago. I no longer play electronic organs but I do play a good Yamaha digital piano. I find concentrating on something other than the noise is very effective. The more you let the noise bother you the worse it gets.
I know only too well this is something you are not going to want to accept. My friend of years ago took a while to realise it until she noticed her beloved Hammond organ, ever present Walkman and concentrating on building matchstick models did the trick.
I find cooking, driving, and even writing things like this help tremendously. If nothing your doctors can suggest helps then try doing something you have to concentrate on as it could well work for you too.
I'm not sure if this is at all relevant but I'll mention it to you anyway. I have been b12 deficient for some time and get regular injections form Doctor. In Feb I became ill with some sort of stomach problem. I had gastritis, esophagitis and sinusitis. This went on for weeks and became really concerning to me. Then randomly my ear began to buzz/tap. It would not happen all the time and usually kicked off in the evening after I had eaten something. It drove me mad. I researched everything I could and thought it may be b12 related (but then again almost everything can be!) It would continue on through the night and then just stop. I was convinced it was to do with my sinus. I started to use a salt spray in my nose and over the weeks things calmed down. I was referred to ENT but by the time I reached him I knew I was improving. He checked my ears and saw nothing. Didn't seem concerned by the buzzing (which had stopped by then). He did mention I had severe TMJ but I don't think that is what caused the buzzing.
I only mention this because I strongly felt that the ear was connected to what was going on with my stomach and my sinus. It was horrible to live with - so I really feel for you. I felt like I was falling apart form all angles. Maybe try a salt spray in your nose - you've nothing to loose and intact, the ENT doctor told me that are better than the prescribed steroid ones that I was reluctant to use.
I have had hissing tinnitus for maybe 10 years now. B12 or iron don’t help at all. It’s worse if I eat anything with sugar in or alcohol. Also worse after listening to music.
I have two different types of tinnitus. One is the constant hissing/crickets. The other is pulsatile, where I hear my heart pounding. Both of these seems to get worse according to my iron levels, specifically iron saturation %. My ferritin levels can be sky high since I receive iron infusions on a regular basis, but the tinnitus is worse, almost unbearable when my saturation levels drop into single digits. I find laying on my back with an ambient noise generator helps reduce my perception of the pulsatile variety. When my saturation levels are in the 20's, they both get better. I have PA and am currently doing cyano SI EOD, so I doubt my B12 levels have much to do with it. It all seems like a weird science experiment since so few physicians have much interest in really exploring the real details of PA and iron deficiency. Good luck to you.
I have a noise generator prescribed by my hospital for the tinnitus. It helps amazingly when going to sleep at night, but I couldn’t listen to it all day long. Strangely when the tinnitus kicked off nobody took bloods, just mentioned ageing, anxiety etc etc It was years later that b12 was picked up on. I’m assuming it went on too long to be rectified. I have the pulsatile type too, both only on the left strangely.
