Tests

Hi,

I have PA and taking 500 mcg methycobalamin injections every alternate day. from 3 months. Some of the symptoms improved and it’s a roller coaster returning some of them. One symptom that doesn’t improve is the burning sensation when I try to breath after closing my eyes while sleeping. Whole body gets heated up and shakes, vibrations within 5 mins and I cannot sleep. I am not sure why is this.

I decided to do more specific tests other than B12 and PA. Can you please suggest what could be ideal tests for my case.

I have done below tests already.

1) Thyroid - normal

2) iron , ferritin, ferritin index, Folic Acid and potassium seemed to be normal in the reports.

3)too high serum igE levels 511 (normal <100)

4)very low vitamin D and it’s well in high end of range now after 6 months of supplements and sun baths.

I haven’t done magnesium, copper etc Tests

Thanks in advance

Can’t advise on your shakes etc while getting to sleep, but have hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, insulin- dependent diabetes... Can you be more specific with ‘normal’ eg for thyroid TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus ranges and we’re you tested for two thyroid autoimmune antibodies (TPO and TgAb), plus results for ferritin, folate etc? Magnesium blood tests are not generally thought to mean much...your blood may have sufficient but not some cells. So vit D 100-130 now, and you are maintaining such a level?

Hi Judithdalston

Thyroid profile:

TSH. - 2.68 mlU/L (0.27 - 4.20)

fT3. - 3.36 pg/ ml (2,0 - 4,4)

fT4. - 1.35 ng/dl (0,9 - 1,70)

I haven’t done thyroid autoantibodies. Do you suggest me to do this test. I seem to be developing vitiligo and it’s in initial phase. Would be thankful to anyone who gives any pointers to stop this from spreading as it’s in initial phase.

Ferritin 116 ug/L ( 30 - 400)

Transferrinreceptor - 2.1 mg/l (2.2 - 5.0)

Ferritinindex - 1.0

Iam not sure how to interpret ferritin index

HBA1C. 6.0 ( prediabetic)

Serum igE 511 IU/ml (<100)

Vitamin D 8.1 ng/ ml ( 30 - 100) - December 2018

After supplementation it’s 50 and continue ing weekly 20000 IU

It is just that lots of ailments are linked by autoimmunity, or thought to be... so many hypothyroids have had 1 or both thyroid antibodies raised ( known as Hashimoto’s), then low B12 and vitiligo can be autoimmune too. Go over to sister healthunlocked Thyroid U.K. site for more info.

Thanks judithdalston. I will check the site. But thyroid hormones seems to be normal. Is it possible i still have Hashimoto. Nevertheless I will do the necessary checks

You will find Hashimoto’s info on Thyroid U.K. forum too...it does make for confusing diagnosis as you can be Hashimoto’s yet not have obvious antibodies, and ‘normal’ FT4/3 results in early stages before thyroid gland deteriorated.

Hi Thulasi1,

I was wondering where you get your methylcobalmin from. I’m currently on hydroxo and it makes me feel horrible. I’m on weekly SIs and it’s not enough. I don’t want to increase frequency on this as it adds palpitations to the list of symptoms.

I seem to have similar symptoms to you - I get hot at night and wake vibrating all over. Lots of other horrible symptoms too.

Hope you are seeing improvements.
