I have been feeling rubbish again over the last few weeks, really tired and all my B12 deficiency symptoms are back despite self injecting once a week. I went to an immunologist as I also suffer from angioedema. She diagnosed I also have a vitamin D deficiency, so I'm taking a vitamin D supplement. She also noticed my lips as they get really visibly sore when my injection runs down, she said that can be caused by iron deficiency. My iron levels are low but not enough to be classed as anaemia. Even though I know iron tablets would really help, they haven't prescribed them, instead they have done yet another blood test to see if they have dropped any more, but I wish they would just give me the iron as I won't get better without it. so frustrating! I have bought iron from Holland and Barrett but it's not very strong and I think I react badly to a chemical in it. I feel awful. I'm struggling on pretending to be okay, but I'm really not. Another thing is, I'm in my 30s and have as good as made the decision to never have kids, not because I don't want them, if it wasn't for my health issues I really would, but because I'm worried that it could be dangerous for the baby during pregnancy because of my blood levels. It's heartbreaking. I'm not thriving in this body, so I don't see how a baby can. I also worry I won't cope because of the tiredness or that it could make my blood drop even more and that I'd be more likely to get post natal problems. I just don't know what to do. I desperately need answers.

Iron Levels
So sorry you poorly again. Have you had full bloods again? Get them to print them off. Ask about your iron levels and ferritin . Ask what to take. Mine were 'within"range' but I questioned it when I got the print off and the doctor casually said if I have symptoms take Some iron. I also spoke to the pharmacist. You have to follow up with a blood test. Hopefully when your vit D in better range you will feel better too. Mine was 21 and with supplements up to 52. So I continue to take them 25ug Initially was on high loading dose. Can you get B12 injections from your doctor too?
Hope your health picks up soon.

Hello!
You poor soul - it's horrible going through it all, isn't it?! Your low iron levels will, as you say stop your B12 working properly and the combination of everything will make you feel like you don't want to have to cope with anything!
I'm doing fairly well health wise at the moment but am under a lot of pressure from work and life so must get on now so please may I ask you to read through my past replies on the subject? You should find something useful in them and those with them from other contributors.
To find my past replies you can go to my profile by double clicking on my name and look under the "replies" heading.
You might have to scroll through several to find the ones about iron deficiency but there are several in there.
I hope you feel better soon! Dx
