Vibration in groin

That’s very interesting that vitamin B12 is mentioned because I started taking Costco’s Zip Fiz B12 three months ago and just starting having this vibration in the right groin today. Maybe I am getting too much B12?

Hi Koko1031 this drink is a new one on me. Have you looked at the possible "side effects"?

However you cannot "overdose" on vitamin B12 as being water soluble any "excess" is excreted via your urine.

I am not a medically trained person and I wish you well.

It’s much, much, much more likely that it is the caffeine doing it.

Oh interesting. I just started drinking caffeinated coffee that very day!

But I am also taking high dose B12

I've experienced a vibration feeling before and i think i remember seeing posts on here about it. For me, it happened after a few months of using mostly methylcobalamin. The vibration felt like it was in my core sort of. When i sat it felt like i was sitting on sonething that was vibrating. I cut way back on methyl after that and I've not had it happen since. Could have been that the methyl was a coincidence and the vibration was a strange deficiency symptom.

I wonder if high B12, 2500 mcg, can cause deficiencies in other vitamins or minerals? I am still having the irritating vibration for one week.

Yes. These vibrations are an early sign of peripheral neuropathy. I had them 2 or 3 years ago long before my other symptoms appeared. It feels like a phone on vibrate is getting a call. Its very weird. To me it happened on my left leg just right where a phone would be, except I carry my phone in my right pocket. For some reason, it only happened in my workplace restroom, although this was probably just coincidence. It only happened 2 or 3 times a year and then it stopped, so I ignored it. Now that I'm on B vitamin shots, I'm getting all sorts of nasty symptoms after the shots. The shots make things worse before things get better. The B12 is waking up dormant neurons that are now misfiring. You should wait. Just after my first shot (which was actually an infusion), I started feeling pins and needles all over my body, specially in the hands and feet. This was a new symptom that only started after the first infusion. Then came an injection a week after, then another injection a week after, and my final injection comes this Saturday. Those pins and needles are mostly gone, and I'm relieved and thanking God. However, now a have other new symptoms. I really can't describe them but its like a muscle tightness and gastrointestinal issues. I'm also praying that these will leave soon.

UPDATE: Had my last shot. Muscle tightness is gone. Feeling less dizzy now.

m7m2018. For clarification...the vibrations that koko1031 describes are not an early sign of peripheral neuropathy.

Isn’t peripheral neuropathy associated with diabetes?

in reply toKoko1031

Diabetes is the most common cause. There are some diseases like multiple sclerosis that will cause it. B12 deficiency is another common cause. It's also possible to have all this diseases do it, you can have diabetes, MS, and B12 deficiency at the same time.

m7m2018...there are over eighty causes of peripheral neuropathy so it's a bit alarmist to suggest MS as a cause...especially in the context of koko1031's original post.

Koko1031 ... yes, peripheral neuropathy is often associated with diabetes...and many other thing too, including B12 deficiency.

However, the vibrations you describe and the location of them is not a typical presentation of peripheral neuropathy (this typically starts with tingling then numbness in the feet, and can be gradually progressive ).

So please don't be alarmed...the most likely cause (as fbirder says) is...caffeine. Suggest you cut out the drinks and then re-assess.

Good luck 👍
