B12 in skeletal disorders?

I have had shoulder troubles for several years and recently did a Google Scholar search for "B12 shoulder". This article popped up; it certainly indicates a connection between certain shoulder problems and B12, and that would seem to infer the possibility that certain other skeletal problems could be associated with B12.

I can give you an n=1 positive result here 🤣 old uni womens rugby injury from 30 years ago, Has never been quite right since and I suspect my B12 was low then and only recently discovered this via this forum. Docs all said it’s a tendon impingement whenever it flared. For strength workouts. I have to keep reps very low and weight as high as I can manage. Yoga has helped no end.

My left shoulder/neck has felt wonky, tight and painful for a few years now but I always put it down to my chosen handbag style.

Is my whole life issues just going to be B12? 😂😂

Someone recently posted a link to a presentation by a physician named, I believe, David Morris. Among his comments early on was something along these lines: "What is affected by B12 deficiency? Everything."

Bursitis can definitely be helped by frequent B12 injections . Well not just helped , but totally eliminate

I now use an orthopaedic pillow which is a huge help . No further trouble …. Best wishes to you .

Interesting..

I’ve had shoulder and neck pain for a year now, felt absolutely rubbish in run up to last Christmas and then in Jan 24 diagnosed B12 deficiency level below 50 and by this point had pain in both arms. Have recently had MRI; I have inflamed tendons in shoulder and degeneration in shoulder and neck and they could tell if a tear due to movement in image. Having physio, but can’t believe how B12 has really affected my health this year.. still struggling 😣

Thank you for the post ! I have a rotator cuff tear and a physio appt on the 20th of this month.I will take a copy of the article with me. I was shocked when it happened, I had been cleaning the shower then terrible pain and limited movement. I've been on the waiting list to see a senior physio for a long time. Last time l saw them it was with my hip which had no vibration so limited movement, thanks to all the help from Wedgewood and Jade s I started EOD B12 injections and the vibration and movement returned. Thanks again.

For sure, my B12 shots help take away muscular tension in my neck and shoulder area.

That is interesting. About 24 years ago when first diagnosed with PA amongst everything else that was wrong, I also had both shoulders that were 'frozen'. Physio didn't help at all and eventually I had them sorted under anaesthetic. At same time I was diagnosed with PA. I never knew it could be a symptom. 17 years of injections none of these things returned. Injections stopped as I was told I did not have PA. 2 years ago a lot of the symptoms had returned and eventually after a year it was agreed I did have PA after all. However I also had both frozen shoulders again but never thought about it being a symptom, not even as a co-incidence. I presume now, because they did not re-start B12 injections until January this year, and then very haphazard supposedly every three months (not 12 weeks), I am going to have restricted movement for ever. District Nurse who comes to give me the injection said that they are not allowed to give injection earlier than three months (13 weeks) but can do it any time after that. Nobody is taking any notice of NICE guidelines. A lot of my symptoms are neurological and that means should have injections every two months.

In my mind's eye, I can see Sally Pacholoc in a presentation recently posted here recoil in horror to stories such as yours.

The problem is I am not the only one, there are so many with similar stories. I think it is worse now than it was 25 years ago. It makes you wonder, with so many advances in medicine, why does the treatment of conditions like PA and Hypothyroidism seem to be going backwards?

This is only my opinion, but I think it is because there isn't much money for general health research. If you look as postings for academic research positions, one of the requirements is that researchers applying for the positions be able to secure funding for the research. The main source for such funding is big pharma, which isn't interested in making people well; big pharma is interested in finding drugs to control, not cure, chronic conditions, then patent a drug that can be sold at a high price to patients across the lifespan. There is no profit in making people well, and therefore little money to fund research for the purpose of making people well.
