Unusual sensation, low haemoglobin.

I usually post in the Thyroid forum, but wondered if anyone on here might have some insight into my symptoms. I've been experiencing an unusual sensation in my head, mouth and hands. It's a combination of a sound, rather like a baby's rattle, which is accompanied by a prickling, tingling sensation in my tongue, lips and hands. It's very quick, like a pulse, but is happening all through the day, except if I lie down. I feel ok generally, I eat well, and supplement with sublingual multivitamins, including B12, D3, K2. I tried twice to give blood recently but was rejected as my haemoglobin was too low, but the blood test came back as normal, 127 g/l. If anyone has any idea what might be causing this, I'd be grateful for your input.. Thank you

Hi. I’m not sure that you’ll be able to get an answer on this forum which concerns pernicious anaemia, a form of anaemia caused by a deficiency of vitamin B12. This is different from iron deficiency anaemia.

I hope that you find an answer.

Thank you Jan, I do have low B12, although it's in the low range and not an issue according to GP.

It would be useful asking your GP for a print out of your test results and posting them on here (you are entitled to this although they may pass on a small charge). Your B12, folate and MCV are probably the most useful to post in here (result and range).

A bit like thyroid results, what is fine as far as the GP is concerned may not be if you are having symptoms. I haven’t had the symptoms that you describe but you can find a full list of possible symptoms on the pernicious anaemia website and also some information about B12 and folate deficiency anaemia on the nhs website.

Clivealive and Sleepybunny on this forum often give more information in replies to posts, including links to relevant information so it might be useful reading their replies to other posts.

If you want to take supplements for B12, use sublingual. There are many factors that can cause a person not to be able to absorb via stomach/diet.

Thank you, yes I use a sublingual spray.

What dosage? I use Nature's Bounty liquid with dropper. 5,000mg daily. Under the tongue for up to a minute or more.
