PETITION TO BE ABLE TO BUY B12 INJECTIONS AT YOUR LOCAL PHARMACY IN UK !

Can the Admins or someone start a petition for signatures to be able to buy B12 injections (Hydroxocobalamin) at your local pharmacy. Is this possible and will it help ?.....who do we forward the signatures to ?

This will put a lot of people out of misery as the laws saying you can’t buy them are very old and have not been reviewed. The injections are harmless so I don’t think it’s right that we are unable to buy them in UK but are easily ‘buy over the counter’ in other countries.

I think I’m walking around today due to B12 injections and I’m only 42 yr old male.

I still remember how sick I was before I started the injections about 2 years ago and would spend 18+ hours in bed simply unable to do much at all and was very unwell and depressed and felt helpless.

It was only due to my great GP who retired who agreed to put me on weekly B12 injections that I had a great improvement in my health. Since retiring my new GP decided he can only give me 1 in 3 months.

I would like to be able to walk in and buy B12 injections over the counter here in UK.....not only for myself but all those people who’s horror stories I’ve read on here who’ve had so much grief just because we can’t buy harmless B12 injections over the counter.

So if someone knows what to do can someone please start a petition.

I’ve signed a lot of petitions over the last few months which I get over what’s app but I don’t know who they forward them to etc......so someone please start one, I’m sure you’ll get a large response especially through this PA site.

Thankyou.

Over 36,500 signatures so far !

I didn’t know the petition existed. Can the Admin(s) not send the petition link to all members ?......Please do so if possible.

Also If possible, as beginner1 suggested can the link also be sent to Thyroid forum members as there’s a lot.

Thankyou for the link.

No - the admin cannot do so. "Can the Admin(s) not send the petition link to all members ?"

(Admin on another HU forum - Thyroid UK - where we also cannot do so.)

why not?

You would have to ask HealthUnlocked.

ALSO: As of 25/05/2018, the GDPR might make such mass mailings illegal unless specifically agreed to in terms and conditions with a freely-refusable opt-in approach.

How come change.org do it?

I have not touched change.org since 25/06/2018 so I do not know what might have changed. However, you can be pretty sure that they have gone through their operation in order to identify any possible GDPR issues and might have made a number of changes required to become fully compliant. You do have to explicitly opt-in to receiving emails.

Even were HU to have offered the possibility, many members might have chosen NOT to opt-in when offered the choice.

Ryaan, the admin on this forum are volunteers, and as helvella says, we don't have access to functionality that would allow us to to do that and I wouldn't really consider it appropriate given the purpose of the forum. It certainly would not be appropriate under the GDPR which comes into affect in a few months time.

The petition has been mentioned many times on this forum - though admittedly not for a few months.

Hi Gambit, hope you’re keeping well.

Do you know what is happening with the petition for buying B12 over the counter in UK ?

I’ve just checked with the link you sent me and it has over 68,000 signatures.

🙂

Sorry - no idea - suggest you follow the link on the website to b12.deficiency.info and contact them.

I did the same, posted it on my Facebook page and many friends and family signed as they know what a difference it has made in not only in my life but therefore also in the life of those around me and who I socialise and work with.

Some people use patches in between injections and some take tablets. I just inject.

Most branches of Boots are offering flu jabs, so I don't see why they can't give B12 shots too?
