Ferritin...

Hi,

For the last few months I've been experiencing symptoms of fatigue etc. and decided to have my iron levels checked in July.

Iron Serum: 128 (40-190)

TIBC 330 (250-450)

Saturation- 39 (0-50)

Ferritin- 55 ( 10-154)

I was surprised to see that my Ferritin wasn't incredibly low. Because I had only been taking iron supplements every other day for about a month and eating iron rich foods.

I decided to retest a week ago , this time not take iron supplements and only relying on my diet. This time my Iron levels read

Iron Serum: 137 (40-190)

TIBC- 348 (250-450)

Saturation-39 (0-50)

Ferritin - 26 (10-154)

As you can see my Ferrtin dropped quite a bit and as a result I've been having symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this type of drop within a two month period but everything else staying in an optimal range?

In the meantime I plan to supplement (26mg) iron and incorporate iron rich foods and restest in two months. My doctor hasn't been any help so I plan to take matters in my own hands and monitor closely! Hopefully I'm doing the right thing!?
