Topical question! Could b12d cause heat intolerance? I am unable to go outside atm without breaking out into a (very) itchy rash. Feel like I should be in my garden to make the most of the Summer and get some vit d but it is so uncomfortable. I wear cotton clothing, doesn't help.

No, I just have three-monthly b12 injections, no supplements. Even sitting still in shade is impossible. I will try sitting with my feet in cold water, perhaps the coolness will travel upwards?!

UV light from the sun causes me issues. SPF 100 sunscreen for both UVA and UVB solves the problem.

Gardening after the sun sets is another one of my workarounds

Hi Stumpnme1.

About the rash...could be something called prickly heat. Here's a link to information:

nhs.uk/conditions/Prickly-h...

Prickly heat aside- yes, the heat wipes me out completely - pre B12 deficiency, I used to love it. Not anymore. Sadly.

Sitting with feet in water sounds wonderful 😎.

Wishing you all things cool 👍

It's wiping out my brother but I thought it was a symptom of multiple sclerosis (which it is) I wonder if his Pernicious anemia is also making him feel like death....really suffering from this heat inside his home, to weak to get out at all.

Do give your brother my best wishes, life is very tough.

So sorry to hear that Marymary7.

A cold flannel at the back of the neck, sitting with feet in cold water (aka stumpnme1), or wrapping a damp towel around the head (aka Gambit) can work well in the cooling department.

Plus drinking plenty.

Hope you're brother picks up a bit when the weather cools off a little.

Hugs to both x

Thank you Foggyme I'm trying everything...gave him flannel with ice in too today. He does have a small air conditioner unit in his sitting room. Which he purchased for the bedroom before he was on his own and feeling so ill. It was 32 degrees here today and the unit would only take it down to 24 degrees so John still feeling very poorly and he can't have it on in the bedroom.

I gave him a b12 jab today too.

Temperatures should go down tomorrow .

I wrote to the council asking if his sheltered accommodation could have aircon fitted as lots of homes there have it. (Previous occupant declined it!)

They told him the scheme is over now for this so we offered to pay for it to be added as he is not allowed to mess with the building fabric, will wait their reply....they take an age to answer.

Hugs back,

M😎

At the moment I'm getting through the day by wrapping a damp cloth around my head.

I don't get photosensitivity but, as pvanderaa says some do.

It is so itchy, isn't it? I don't think it's prickly heat, symptoms don't match up. Just when the garden is at it's best and is calling out to me to sit out there, in the shade, I am stuck indoors, venturing outside is a no-no. Just wonder if it's to do with b12.

My internist told me to be careful in sun with B12 injections as some folks experience more sensitivity than usual to both heat and sun exposure. I get redder than normal disputes using my 70 sunblock plus a raised itchy rash like hives on my neck, chest forehead and forearms despite wearing long sleeve cotton shirt and big sun hat. It usually starts across my cheeks with a red flush and by nightfall has bloomed to other areas. As to just heat, this is first year I am contemplating putting in an air conditioner! I was sensitive to heat before PA but nothing like this!! Was beginning to think this global warming has hit up in my northwoods! (I live in USA)

That is just like me. I have been sitting with a cooling fan machine thing even indoors! The UK is having a heat wave, not our usual weather, and I am making everyone cross by wishing it would GO AWAY. I think it is cooling down in the next few days, if it doesn't...........

I'm wishing it away too...so another cross maker here.

Oh for some cool...⛄️

Your itchy rash is most probably urticaria.. I've been suffering with this for 3 weeks now it just came on out the blue and drs don't seem to know why! I just found out I have low iron and aneamic so I'm trying to find out if that's the cause to the urticaria.. I'm off to drs again to put this across to them wish me luck

Good luck Joanne. I do hope your GP is not like mine, he would not be interested! I hope yours is more willing to listen and treat you, my GP has this knack of looking at me as if I am SUCH A NUISANCE!
