Does anyone else have ridiculously hot feet with PA? I find it really hard to sleep. Does anyone have any remedies or know how to stop it. It’s driving me insane! 😩
Hot feet!: Does anyone else have... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Hot feet!
Hi carolinegigg Personally I did until my doctor prescribed Gabapentin 100mg (1-3 at night) capsules. I take two.
I am not a medically trained person but I've had Pernicious Anaemia (one of many causes of B12 deficiency) for more than 46 years.
I wish you well.
Had it before B12 injections. It's (mainly) stopped now.
Hi carolinegigg
I used to get burning feet and my then partner would get a can of drink from the fridge and hold on the sole of my foot (not sure if it relived because of the cold shock or because it reduced the temperature) but it helped. The other thing I did was lay on my back with my legs up and feet on the wall. I had no idea you could get medication to help (thanks for that info clivealive).
I always make sure my feet can be easily uncovered, no hospital corners! I have a pillow at the bottom of the bed to raise my feet and try to keep my B12 level at about 1000, which is often perceived as over range. Along with better medication for hypothyroidism it has all helped
Yes , my feet feel as though they are on fire all the time .Before I was diagnosed with PA , my feet were totally numb . After treatment with B12 injections , the numbness slowly disappeared , and I was left with the burning sensation . My feet are not hot to the touch . But I’ve learnt to live with the burning feeling . It’s 100 times better than numbness.
Hello Caroline, bane of my life too. I go around in winter, like now with bare feet, sometime stand on cold back doorstep, and at night have a cold waterbottle at the foot of my bed.
Thank you, clivealive for the tip about Gabapentin. Shall talk to doc about it as I was given Amitriptyline. Saw a neurologist last Monday and he said that I needed to take Amitriptyline every day for relief, not just when things are really bad pain-wise. Anybody know more on this. My doc didn't stress this and I don't want to take every night as I feel so awful the next day. Might Amitriptyline have the same effect on burning feet as Gabapentin if I persevere?
Hi, I also have burning feet, I haven't tried gabapentin so I just tend to put my feet up on a pillow and put cold cream on them(keep it in the fridge) or put ice on them. It does seem to help.
Someone mentioned on here not too long ago that applying Aloe Vera gel to the soles of the feet worked for them. It’s cool and soothing normally used for sunburn etc.
You can buy it from stores like Holland & Barrets if you would like to try it.
Thanks all for your help! Glad I’m not suffering alone lol
