Methyl v Hydroxy

I'm wondering if anyone who was having Methylcobalamin injections, but didn't have much or any improvement in their symptoms, then changed to Hydroxycobalamin injections & found they worked better?

I would be very grateful for any thoughts or experiences of this issue.

Many thanks AK 🙂

Not injections but I did try using methyl as main supplement for a while but found that it really didn't do anything for my neuro-psychiatric problems and was turning back into a grumpy, bad-tempered old bat - so started using hydoxo again. I still use methyl for supplementing as it does help with some neurological issues. Find that I seem to do best with mix of adenosyl, methyl and hydroxo/cyano.

Ah that's interesting. It's a bit of a mystery. I know we're all different & there will be multiple contributing factors why we react differently. I perhaps am thinking too simplistically & that there won't ever be a uniform explanation. It would be great if there was though!

Trial & error is all we've got right now, so upwards & onwards :)

Many thanks for your reply Gambit62

for me adenosyl seems to be the only thing that has a real impact on bladder and bowel control - think you are very right about it being multiple factors - there probably are some rules but their may well be so intertwined with a full understanding of genetics - not just what genes do what but also how they interact with each other - important to remember that we are all individuals.

I agree with what you've said. Even though my mother, grandmother, great grandmother & my four daughters all have/had PA, our symptom pictures & treatment varies completely.

But who knows what the future holds with medical advances. I hope for the best :)

Is it ok to have a mix of injections? I didn't think you could interchange? Also when you say use methyl, do you mean tablets? Appreciate all the advice you could pass my way thanx

methyl = nasal spray, hydroxo = nasal spray/injections, adenosyl = sublinguals

Hi, in the past I have done 1 Methyl injection + 1 Hydroxycobalamin injection, at the same time and I didn't suffer any ill effects :)

It's probably not a good idea though if you're trying to ascertain what works for you. In my experience it's best to add or change one thing at a time, otherwise it can become confusing.

I was curious to see if anyone had a definite improvement shifting from one to the other.

Good Luck 😊 AK
