Hydroxy -V - Cyano

For the last 6 years or so I have been self injecting B12 (Hydroxycobalamin version). The results have been very positive. Brain fog gone, extreme fatigue and falling asleep anytime/anywhere gone, tripping up gone. My heart rate has settled back to a normal range, it used to go as high as 180+ bpm on a gentle stroll, which was not good when you are in your 60s. I still twitch quite a bit when I'm asleep but that's likely long term and irreversible nerve damage. I purchase my B12 from the German Versandapo site. This time I have mis ordered and ended up with the Cyanocobalamin version. My understanding is that the Hydroxy version is naturally produced and the Cyano one is synthetic. Essentially they do the same job. My question is, can I swap from using Hydroxy to Cyano without a problem? I daren't ask at my GP surgery because last time I mentioned self injecting B12 they had a hissy fit which forced me into taking responsibility for my own decisions as regards vitamin B12. There must be people on this forum with far greater knowledge and experience than I, so I put the question out there.

Many thanks

Rod

I can only report that i did the same as you some time ago , and suffered no ill-effects at all from the change to using Cynocobalamin instead of Hydroxocobalamin. I have since changed back to Hydroxocobalamin. Cynocobalamin is the most commonly used form of injectable B12 in the U.S.

Clivealive , a long standing member of this forum, prefers Cynocobalamin to Hydroxocobalamin.

I’m curious to know how you managed to order from Versandapo.de , as they stopped delivering to U.K. sone time ago . But perhaps they have changed their minds recently

both versions of B12 are produced by bacteria grown in vats so in that sense both artificial.I have used both and not had problems. On average hydroxo is retained 2x as long as cyano but that is an average and as with everything else B12 people vary a lot with some actually retaining cyano longer than Hydroxo.

Hi Rod, I did the same and ordered Cyan by mistake from a different German site. I have been SI roughly every 2 weeks for about 2 months although, this week, as I still have some Hydrox, I used that instead. Can't say I've noticed any difference between the 2 but SI at roughly 2 weekly intervals I have noticed that I am no longer getting mouth ulcers, sore tongue or bleeding gums.

I am far less experienced than others on the site - but I ordered the Cyno by mistake the first time. I am using it up in addition to the docs prescribed injections (Hydroxo). It seems fine (I'm still improving) and I have ordered Hydroxo so I can switch back when I'm done.
