METHYL B12?

Hi- What does everyone think of taking methyl b12 on top of cyano injections? Still trying to find something that works and relieves my symptoms. Everything I have been taking has been cyano and that doesn’t seem to be helping. I have attached a photo of the methyl. Thanks!

Cyanocobalamin should be just as good as methylcobalamin as they are biochemically identical as soon as they enter the cell.

Personally, methylcobalamin tablets (or lozenges, sprays or patches) do nothing for me. But there's little chance of any harm from taking them - although some people report feeling weirdly horrible with methylcobalamin.

Thanks! Just not seeing a huge improvement with Cyano injections. However, I was on weekly and think I may need 2x week or every other day so I may try that first. Follow-up labs showed that my levels did raise but still not feeling it. Docs gave me no direction of course. I’m so confused on what to take and what not to take along with the injections. My folate serum after 2 injections was >20ng/mL with normal range being >3.0ng/mL. What should I be taking with my injections!? I keep seeing folic acid and maybe multivitamin and bcomplex. But then people are saying I don’t need too much b6. I just want to get the most out of my injections. Help.

I think what you probably need is time.

It can take a long time for the symptoms of a B12 deficiency to fade. Some may never go.

Your folate is very good. You shouldn't need to take any other supplements if you're eating a decent diet (plenty of fresh veg, with fruit, nuts, seeds, pulses, grains, meat, fish - especially oily fish and top up to the required number of calories with carbohydrates). Injecting lots of B12 doesn't increase the body's long-term requirements of anything else. If you had macrocytic anaemia then you may need a small amount of extra potassium for the first few weeks.

I agree .. I may be a tad impatient, has been many months of symptoms! 😩 I may move to injections 2x weekly. Thanks for the advice! Will try to be patient.

I agree that time helps; it takes time to repair the damage. Also, everyone has unique needs, but I have felt much better with methylcobalamin injections. My doctor said it may be because my genetic data suggests issues with methylation; some people may do better with methylcobalamin, which is already methylated, if their body doesn't methylate the other forms of B12 properly. At least this is my understanding. But some people don't do well with methyl; it takes some exploration to figure out the best options for each person.
