Hello, I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency March 2015 and my 3 monthly injections are not enough, my tiredness and confusion is getting worse. After many battles with my GP I have been told I cannot have more frequent injections so I am starting to self inject, does anybody know if I need to take folate too

It would probably be a good idea - as it is quite easy to deplete folate when you are processing a lot of B12.
Hope you find the frequency that you need quickly - best to go by symptoms and as soon as you feel some starting to return that is when you need to top up.
Fristrating that GPs can be so stubbornly one-size fits all.

Hi Marishka1a this "one size fits all" attitude by doctors infuriates me.
I'm not medically qualified but yes you do need to have a healthy level of folate as this is essential to process the B12. If you post your levels here there are those who can give you advice.
I wish you well
I have been SI for only 4 months and I seem to need to review my folate intake all the time! I was initially taking methyl folate (4000mcg). This was not enough, I decided, so I got some folic acid (8000mcg) and added 1 then 2 of those per day… I am still trying to work out what I need!! As others have said - go by how you feel. Good luck!
