Bruised arms and legs.

Good afternoon everyone, I woken up this morning with a number of bruises on my arms and legs. No idea how I got them, I haven't fallen over or anything. The only thing I can think of is bumping into the door but surely I won't bruise. I have noticed the odd bruise or two over the last 6 months but now it's quite a few bruises. I'm due my B12 injection on Monday , could this have anything to do with these bruises.??? Has anyone any ideas about this bruising???

Not truely relevant, but a few years ago i was getting lots of unexplained bruises. I found the culprit was in actual fact my husband! He was punching me in his sleep. Separate beds now! Lol

Can't go to what is actually causing the bleed that is leading to the bruise but low B12 can mean that you bleed more - know its the case with me - so would make sense that it was showing up just before shot is due.  Its probably down to an effect of B12 on platelets or some other clotting agent in the blood though have to say that I never showed up as having problems with either when blood tests were done but I used to bleed profusely and take ages to clot before I started getting the B12 I need.

However, there are, as always, other things that can cause clotting to be slow.  Suggest you keep a dairy for the future

In the past I have read articles that suggest a possible link between Thrombocytopenia (low numbers of platelets) and low levels of B12 and/or low folate. I read that some people with Thrombocytopenia get bruising.

I am not a medic just a patient who has struggled to get a diagnosis.

I used to bruise lots and never knew how I got them. Just realised this has not happened for ages. B12 maybe helped?

I've always been moaned at for having lots of bruises - most of which I couldn't explain!   It's another thing that's less of a problem now I supplement with B12 so I guess it's related.

In the past I used to sleep walk and could wake up with all sorts of odd things (including dirty feet!!), knowing nothing about how they happened!
