Painful feet and bruised legs

My legs used to bruise incredibly easily often when I was just sitting or standing for a while. Is that a problem anyone else had? I've noticed that I'm bruising much less since being on B12 injections.

I have had complex surgery on my feet to treat metatarsalgia (pain under the front of the foot). It was not very successful but they had become less painful until recently when I started to get increased pain as well as paraesthesiae and numbness, which is almost certainly B12 deficiency. The numbness and tingling has improved a bit, but it's early days. The pain persists.

Has anyone else experienced these symptoms of pain and bruising or are they totally unrelated to B12.

Hi,

I used to have lots of small bruises on legs but think that was partly because B12 deficiency made me clumsy. I did use to get bruises I couldn't account for though.

I have discomfort all over, I have a fibro diagnosis but think it's linked to B12 problems. The level of discomfort is much better since I started B12.

Have your Vitamin D levels been checked recently?

Only have to itch my leg and get a bruise. After loading injections I had an itchy eye which I rubbed (not that hard) and burst a blood vessel. That and the horrendous spots I had on face , chest , ears and back made me look a right beauty but as I was feeling pretty rough was glad the outside matched the inside for once . I have always bruised easily .

Me too, but I think it's improved since starting B12.

bruising more easily does seem to be quite common observation in B12 deficiency

I had a lot of pain in my feet - particularly my left foot (aggravated by a broken ankle), until I managed to get my B12 levels where I needed them. I used to use arch supports (after finding myself unable to walk at all one weekend due to shooting pains in the feet) but rarely need them these days

Thank you. Very interesting. I'm hoping both problems will improve as my levels improve.

Yes, I had a lot of spontaneous bruising and my skin turned yellow before having B12, I also have had that pain under the front of the foot episodically - I didn't know it had a name! My whole foot would feel like a block of wood as well. It got worse for a while after a few injections (presumably the repair process kicking in) but seems now to have cleared up (fingers crossed) and much less bruising.

Good to hear about other people's symptoms as I've had so many which seemed inexplicable. I had an appointment with an endocrinologist before I knew much about B12 deficiency and he sent me for an adrenal failure test on the basis of my skin colour! (it wasn't that).

I agree that it's quite reassuring when others suffer similar symptoms that are not recognised as related to B12.

No bruising but a great deal of discomfort in my feet. Buying shoes is a nightmare but at least after treatment I do have some relief.

Make sure you keep a diary of symptoms as it was crucial in gaining my Dr's understanding of my symptoms and their response to the injections.
