Hi all. Sorry to trouble you again. I have received my order from Amazon of Solgar 5000mcg sublingual B12 and I am concerned that I have bought the wrong ones after reading on the bottle, dissolve under tongue 30sec before swallowing.

Does this mean they are not suitable for PA ? I am so confused.

Many thanks

Jan xx

My Jarrow's 5mg sublingual lozenges say 'Dissolve in mouth, or chew'. They take a lot longer to dissolve than 30s.

I wonder if Solgar too the instructions for their 1mg tablets and just copied it.

Anyhow, leave it until it's dissolved.

I use the same, once or twice a day (depending on how I feel) I pop one under my tongue and just leave it there to dissolve. It's small enough to forget about. They normally take about five / ten mins depending on how much you move it around.

Thanks for your reply. That's great to hear that you can use twice a day if needed. I took one yesterday and found it brilliant. I don't know if it's psychosomatic or if they are that good but right now I think I have found a piece of hope 👍xxx

Luckily, you cant take too much as any excess is sent out in your urine. I finished my loading injections just before Christmas but still feel exhausted at work so I tend to find that if I pop one under my tongue just before I start I can almost make it to the end of the working day (almost)

You may use them as often as needed as it isn't possible to have too much vitamin B12 - it's water soluble and will flush out of your system through urine. Don't be afraid to use extra if you feel the need as we are all different in our B12 requirements.

I've been managing my PA very successfully with the B12 sublingual lozenges. It seems easier to smooth out any dips and valleys to stay in top form.

I'm so happy for you that they have helped! It isn't psychosomatic and even if it were - who cares?! You feel better and that is all that matters.

Best to just keep it under your tongue. It'll absorb better that way. You may also find thatbif you take 99mg of potassium citrate before you take the tablet you see even more improvement - that's because the potassium is handy for cell formation. And you can't really take too much, although you may not have enough other stuff to use all of the b12 - e.g. folate, magnesium, selenium, potassium - so it'll just get excreted. But I think its best to play around with some of that supplementation and see how you feel, and having the vitamin saturate your tissues for a while is a good thing.

I find too that the best way to handle keeping a lozenge under your tongue for 30-45 minutes - no slurping! - is to take it before my commute starts.

Thanks for your reply. Oh potassium citrate. That's a new one. So do you take that before the B12?

I also take doctors best folate before I go to bed. Not sur if that is the correct time to take it.

Yeah take potassium before the b12. I should have been more precise too: you can't take too much b12. Potassium you can take too much of; its one of those minerals like iron and iodide that you can't live without but are also toxic in high doses.

Folate and b12 are best taken close to each other. Consider how your body would normally get the vitamins, 10k years ago. You'd consume some half-cooked greens with folate and potassium with some half-cooked red meat, with it's folate and b12 and carnitine. So your body would have everything ready, on its side, to absorb the stuff it was getting from the food.

That doesn't mean you always need to take vitamins and minerals that way, but in my experience simulating the natural intake process works better. There are a whole lot of chemical reaction happening in these processes that we don't know about yet, so humility would suggest we get as close to the original context as possible.
