Symprove for digestive issues?

I have read that some people have had help with Symprove. What symptoms would you say it helps with most.

I have some IBS like pains, some bloating and nausea and general nerve pain through my abdomen. I have had loads of scans, tests and consults and they all say nothing serious appears to be going on, so I have to put it down to low B12, iron etc. I am hoping once I start my injections it will help, but thinking about trying Symprove in the meantime.

If you have PA then you will have low / no Stomach acid ( Hypochlorhydria / Achlorhydria ) This allows bad bacteria to take over in your stomach , upsetting your gut flora , and causing bloating , stomach pain and often nauseous reflux .

Probiotic food can help in restoring the gut flora — foods like real yoghurt, Kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi . Failing that , Symprove is an excellent water -based probiotic and worked 100% for me , in about 3 months in all . Rather expensive unfortunately.

Also helpful is to eat smaller meals more often . Stick to lighter protein, like chicken and fish . In severe cases , Betaine Hydrochloric acid with pepsin capsules can be taken with protein meals . Chew food thoroughly enabling the enzymes in saliva to get to work on the break-down process .

I started Symprove with self -injected B12 , and am please to say that it really helped and has not re-occurred. .

I am taking Betaine HCL once a day, and also a good quality ACV. Not sure whether I would benefit from Symprove as well, or instead of?

I assume that you are taking the Betaine HCl with your protein meal . Yes I would take the Symprove as well . It’s adding the good bacteria to your stomach . The acids help the good bacteria to survive . .

Yes I take Betaine HCL with my protein meal.

You may need to increase your dose of betaine. I take a small dose with everything I eat, a larger dose depending on how much protein I'm eating.

When you say a small dose with each meal, what dose do you take? The capsules I have are 680mg and it says to take one a day.

My NOW brand 648 mg capsules say "take 1 - 2 at the beginning of each meal, but not on an empty stomach." My KAL brand 250 mg tablets say "take 1 tablet with or immediately following a meal. Do Not Chew." A small dose for me is when I cut the 250 mg in half. I also recapsule the 648 mg caps for protein meals of 2 - 3 oz. I listen to my stomach and adjust accordingly. Hope this helps.

Hi Wedgewood, Can bowel issues, like IBS/diverticulitis symptoms get worse before it gets better when starting regular ACV and Betaine HCL doses? I am eating smaller meals and have just about cut out bread and cut down on carbs in general. I do have a glass or wine or two, and wondered if this can exacerbate the symptoms. Any thoughts?

I would leave out the alcohol ( although I sure you feel you need it ) i haven’t heard and didn’t experience it my self , that the symptoms got worse before they got better .

In your place , I would also do a course of Symprove water-based pro-biotic , or a pro-biotic capsule . Or try some good kefir or yoghurt first thing in the morning . ( full of good bacteria that your stomach needs . )

I put my son on simprove and it does help, I found it helped with his overall emotional well being so belive it helped him digest his food better enabling him to regulate his emotions. He also appeared to be in less pain and have more energy. It is very expensive but if you can afford it well worth the try!

At the start of my journey with PA I had bloating, constipation and generally just felt rubbish and uncomfortable in my lower abdomen.

Symprove improved this a lot.

Most of my discomfort has been in my upper abdomen under my ribs up to now, but I’ve started regularly taking apple cider vinegar, Betaine HCL every day to try and improve my gut flora, as I have some bad bacteria in my gut. I think perhaps I’ve overloaded my system with too many at once and it’s now causing lower abdominal pain and discomfort. But I have read that it is a sign the gut is starting to repair itself and can get worse before it gets better. Also I have cut my dose of sertraline recently, and I think that can cause gut issues. So I’m not doing myself any favours, but hope it will improve over the next week or so. 🥴

Maybe the HCL and cider vinegar is too much? It’s usually a good idea to try one new thing at a time so you know if it helps or not.

Cider vinegar didn’t suit me but I use a fairly low dose of HCL when eating meals containing protein.
