Hi. Wondered if anyone takes a daily B12 complex multivitamin and if so what one would you recommend. Are they pretty much all the same?
Many thanks.

I get my B12 via jabs but take a multivitamin and mineral supplement (& extra folic acid & potassium ) to support it.
I have been taking Boots A-Z but am about to start Tesco's one as it has slightly higher levels of some things. I expect that most of the fully comprehensive ones are fairly good.

Quite like Suzy in spite of her also selling products ! She knows her stuff ....
I had been thinking about this too - I've just had my 3rd 'loading dose' injection, so I've got 3 more to go, and then it's 3 months til my next injection. My GP is fairly sure my problem is caused by diet (rather than an absorption problem) because once I started taking the supplements she prescribed, blood tests showed that my B12 levels began to climb quite quickly. So assuming she's right - if I take a Boots A-Z tablet every day, which gives you 100% of your RDA of B12, then this will compensate for any gaps in my diet? And therefore keep me going between my 3 monthly injections?
Once you are supplementing - the tests are of no consequence. The results are skewed. Many multi-vitamins do not give you quality vitamins or fillers. When taking B12 it is important to take a GOOD B Complex like Thorne Research or something similar. They contain Methyfolate which is natural - rather than Folic Acid which is synthetic. Worth researching.
I think you may be better to take Jarrow Methylcobalamin B12 1000mcg or 5000mcg - lozenges to keep under the tongue until they dissolve. Amazon sell them. They seem the most popular here and on Thyroid UK.
Sometimes the B12 in a Multi-vit is cyanocobalamin.....which maybe OK but on the other hand.....

1000ug of cyanocobalamin contains as much cyanide as a thimbleful of prune juice. You probably get more by walking in a city.
That's so interesting. So am I right in thinking that 1000mcg B12 is the highest dosage that you can purchase ? Xx
Hi, Just ordered B12 tablets from Healthspan (healthspan,co.uk). Although my B12 levels were low, Doctor didn't prescribe but I don't like injections so will see what the result is with the pills.
Hi all. Thank you so very much for all the replies. I will definitely have a look at all the advice given and as there is no harm in it will look in to taking a multivitamin each day. It's so complex isn't it xxx
A multi vitamin may not give you enough of the B's - I would take the B12 and a good B complex. Then some of the others individually - like C - D3 - Magnesium - Zinc. That way you can ensure a better quality....and you can have the VitD tested to find out how much you need to take according to your results....
