Blood results have come back today, I've stopped my iron now for about 6 weeks, two years ago i had a ferritin level of 2, it's VERY slowly crept up and was at 69 in february this year, never had b12 checked, so I had a blood test on tuesday, Ferritin 99, B12 - 478, Folate 6.2 Can anyone explain why I'd still be feeling weak and generally crap? I'm just recovering from a cold so I'm aware this could have had an impact on the ferritin, I was pretty much by now thinking the b12 would be low - my cousin has regular b12 injections, and I'm not at a complete loss. :-\ Any feedback appreciated x

Ferritin alone can't really give a full picture of how much iron you have and how your body is handling it. It is possible to have a normal ferritin level but a low serum iron level if your transferrin level is also low. Did your doctor order a full iron panel: serum iron, transferrin, TIBC, saturation percent, and ferritin?
There is a little chart on here that explains how results on those tests can show different types of iron problems: labtestsonline.org/understa...
Ferritin levels will be raised in times of infection and when you have a cold . If your cousin has PA it is very likely that you will too as it tends to be in families .
