Would you know if PA sufferers feel the cold more than normal? Especially hands?
Feel the cold? : Would you know if PA... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Feel the cold?
I think most anaemic patients, it being B12 def, folate and or iron def feel the cold more. I definitely warm up after a B12 injection.
I was B12 deficient without anaemia but was always cold, normal thyroid function tests
I've just been reading a book called your Thyroid and how to Keep it Healthy. Feeling cold was certainly a symptom there. Interesting how blood tests for both disorders cannot be trusted....
I used to love the winter. I was diagnosed with pa in May 2014 and just went through the my first winter. This winter I can barely stand the cold. I live in Arizona and by cold I mean anything less than 75 degrees. It's awful! Winters are terrible now.
I know that when I was probably at my lowest for B12 I felt the cold terribly and during the winter I could not get my hands and feet to warm up at all, two pairs of socks or two pairs of gloves included! However, it is also a symptom of low thyroid, so both things are probably worth considering.
My hands are basically always cold. I have been known to use them as ice packs on myself or others as the need arises.
It is such a constant thing with me that, on the rare occasion when my hands actually warm up, my friends will ask me if I'm feeling alright.
Sometimes they become so cold it affects my dexterity.
