Freezing cold feet

LittleA profile image
24 Replies

So have PA and I have really bad circulation in my feet too due to other health issues.

Does anyone else get cold feet and Iean ice cold, and no matter how many pairs of socks you put on nothing works.

I've tried putting my feet on a hot water bottle but that's not really doable all the time, are there anything I can do or any advice ?

Thank you lovely people 😊

I too have cold feet right now and it's not pleasant. Not sure what to do about it either. Do you have any anxiety issues like me? That can make your feet cold... Maybe I'm hypothyroid again🤔

I used to have very cold feet cramps ect.For me flexing ,wiggling toes. Massage .

Bouncing from ball of foot to heals. Raising legs when sitting.

Don't put socks on until feet are warm.

Fluffy insides in shoes.

Boots not too tight.

I've fortunately rsreky get this anymore with enough b12 .

Thank you for your replies. I have had my feet on a hot water bottle then put two pairs of socks on and my feet were actually warm. Think it gave my feet a boost to get the circulation going.

I have looked on Amazon for some idea, I can't keep my feet on my hot water bottle all the time and found some little insoles like those pain heat patches that work by air exsposure so I was thinking of placing some in my socks before I put them on and sticking them in my shoes 🤔

no solution, just a sympathy vote. My hands and feet always cold even in Summer especially left foot which often feels numb. I have been self injecting every other day for about 6 months but little improvement. Sorry I can’t be more helpful but I know what you are going through !

Hi LittleA SNAP!

I find this too my feet are so cold it’s uncomfortable to stand on them.

What I do when it gets unbearable is what my nanna used to do as she suffered cold ands and feet.

Two bowls of water. One cool one bath hot with some English mustard powder in it about 2 tsp.

Then feet in warm, then cold, then warm and always finish on a cold dunk ( to close the pores).

Counter intuitively finishing on cold does warm the feet up. It’s supposed to boost circulation.

in winter I wear sheepskin boots in the house.

I have some really fluffy slippers that with the two pairs of socks and they do nothing, your boots sound fabulous

natural fibres are best for warmth, so sheepskin slippers and pure wool socks ( cashmere if you can afford them). My sheepskin boots were very cheap from Aldi. They are meant to be for outdoor use but i wear them as slippers indoors.

I also have burning cold (weirdest feeling) in feet, especially right foot. I have "Heat Holders" socks - not cheap but great! And for when you are able to use a hot water bottle, I cant recommend microwave slippers enough. I have soft furry ones, off Amazon, put in micro for 40 secs, onto feet and they are toasty for ages, they really help x

I have nerve damage in both feet and follow my doctor's advice. Firstly, don't let them get cold. Apply Deep Heat cream to feet then double sock. I too wear Heat Holder socks and highly recommend them. If I let my feet get cold, it takes several hours for them to warm up, then I wear my slippers in bed in addition to the latter. Hope this helps you - it does work, although I'd love to get into bed with bare feet - it's just not an option any more. I bought my walking shoes a size bigger to accommodate double socks. Good luck!

It's got to the point to wearing two pairs of socks and slippers in bed does t make th warm anymore. If you scroll down there's a good comment about wool socks that can be found on Amazon i am going to look out for. Could be a thing.

I'm sorry you suffer too. Have you thought about getting a heated blanket for your bed for when the weather is cold its helping my circulation at the moment with my legs and feet and nothing has done as good as job as this.

You can get a single one from Asda, a silent night one £22 you can order it on their website and do free click and drop :)

sorry you have such cold feet it's very frustrating to deal with.I have really cold feet as well. I put a heating pad in my bed before I go to bed to warm up where my feet go. Then I wrap the heating pad around my feet and try to fall asleep and then I wake up hours later and take it off. I also wear socks to bed every night. But there are battery operated socks to keep your feet warm and also the microwave socks to keep your feet warm are awesome. My feet are constantly freezing cold, it doesn't matter if it's winter or summer. In fact I'm freezing when I go to bed all the time in the summer. And my temperature is only 95 to 96°. But I could also be freezing cold and sweating at the same time. It's just the strangest feelings. The more run down I feel the colder I get. Good luck

Yes, I'm the same throughout the year too. I've never tied the socks you recommend. I'll get some. Thanks EllaNore.

They're kind of pricey. And I don't even have a pair for myself but I'm very tempted to get them. If I do I'll let you know how I like them. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply, I didn't know there were socks you could get socks to go in the microwave. I've seen the plug in feet warmers and if I got one of those I wouldn't want to move 🤗

I got a heated blanket today and got that in my bed now it's so nice.

I'm going to check out the wool socks Themabinogion mentioned on Amazon £17 there's som fabulous advice too ☺️

hi LittleA

I had the same problem. If you have cotton socks on, the cotton holds the sweat from your feet and this makes them colder. Nylon socks do nothing to keep you warm. Woollen socks breath and don’t retain moisture and will keep your feed toasty warm. You can buy a pack of three thick socks on Amazon for £17. They must have a large percentage of lambs wool. Avoid wearing fluffy slippers, they will make your feet damp and cold and can cause fungal infections, so if it’s extra nippy, put on two pairs of woollen socks. Your other worst enemy would be nylons tights etc. hope this helps, be nice to know if it does.

Thank you, I will have a look on Amazon for the socks I'm sure they will have some black Friday deals for them, will keep my eyes peeled.

I have a pair of rubber croc slippers lined with fur, that I thought would be really nice and warm and could go outside in them, but they make my feet sweat and my feet actually get much colder in them.

I just want to add I have found a heated blanket for £22 silent night one at Asda. You can click and drop it for free or pay postage it's £30 on Amazon so your saving abit 🙂 hope this helps people.

I'm sorry to hear so many people suffer with this. I hope everyone finds things to help. Lots of good advice here thank you so much.
