tingling in the head
I can't say I've had that one, Bowler - maybe someone else has experienced it. Nerve damage can occur anywhere. Have you mentioned it to your doctor?
Thanks for your prompt reply. I haven't mentioned this to my Dr. yet.
I do have Giant Cell Arteritis which cause's headache's so thought it could be that, however this is not a headache as such, it's a tingling sensation the same as I get in my feet, maybe it is to do with my GCA ? all very confusing when you have several health issues at the same time. I will mention it to my Dr.
The tingling sensation in feet is typical b12 deficiency and peripheral nerve damage - most of us get it. But there is a variety of obscure symptoms that rarely come to light unless one person mentions it. Then it's usually amazing how many people pop up and say the same thing.
I never mention, because I've never seen anyone else mention, that before I was diagnosed, a few times I got (while I was sat at my pc!) the sensation you get when you get water in your ears - and it was very strong, as if I'd stuck my head under water. But I only had it, I think 3 times, and it never happened again.
Then again, I never knew tinnitus was a symptom until months after my diagnosis - and I never knew I had tinnitus, I thought everyone heard the noises I did!
I used to get tingling back of my head, its gone, not sure if its B12 or not, but its not come back for years.
Also tingling in face, that can also be B6 def and or heart problems (or certain meds; I got that when taking stuff for high altitude) so best all mention to GP. Marre.
When I first got symptoms last December the tingling was in my feet and hands but within a week it had spread to what seemed like my whole left side - this included arm, leg, neck, ear, buttock and torso. I also had stiffness in my arm, leg and hand. After loading doses this cleared up but now the tingling has returned to both feet and my right hand. Also now have stiffness in right hand. Got an appointment in a few weeks to see a neurologist.
I've had a strange sensation, whilst I was diagnosed with macrocytosis (because my B12 level was 500 he discounted that problem, he decided it was an alcohol problem although I drink very little...he told me I had to stop alcohol altogether!) I hope YOU all believe me! The sensation was like little electric shocks in my head, I didn't mention it to my doc as I thought he'd think me even more of a hypochondriac! I seem to be the only one on here who has a high B12 reading and STILL believing I'm deficient. However methylcobalamin seems to be working for me thank goodness!
Interesting that you had macrocytosis? What did your doc give you for it
If you have macrocytosis then this means your blood cells are to big, it can be caused by alcohol abuse (and I believe you, my GP initially also thought I must be an alcoholic), there are other reasons, such as thyroid problems, lever conditions, folate def and more so strange you are not having any further tests.

Marre.
They have done tests for macrocytosis, at the same time I had the full blood count, that's how it was discovered. My B12 was 500 (taking cyanocobalamine but recently discovered that only methylcobalomine works for me on a cellular level...my discovery thanks to Poppet and co's information which a will be ever grateful for!) My liver, thyroid and any other reason for macrocytosis was fine so they HAD to blame it on alcohol even though I insisted I drink only the recommended levels. I was told to stop drinking. B12 is something that the NHS can't understand as we know. And as I've said they don't believe in the active test being reliable or even know about MMA tests or homocysteine. However I took a homocysteine test from York Labs and it came back ok. What a minefield this subject is!
Forgot to say, my folate results were and always are, very high. When it was discovered the doc was shocked, he said 'do you eat broccoli all day?' I am a vegan I said.
Bowler, I take sublingual methylcobalamin, 5mg, 60 tabs for about £4. wwwswansonvitamins.com
I am not the expert Bowler, Poppet and Marre and others are!
I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia about 1 month ago and I have random pulsating/throbbing in the left side of my head. It’s not painful, just weird and annoying.
I think it’s related to my deficiency but I’m not sure as it goes away for about a week when I get my shot but hasn’t completely gone away since starting supplements.
I’m scheduling an appointment with a Neurologist next week.
Did you ever figure out if your tingling was related to B-12?
Thank you in advance for your time!
