Been getting more and more head ache's lately also last two blood test have came back saying raised white blood cell count having another test next week Dr mentioned oral steroids if next blood test came back the same as the last one's why would he suggest this please

Oral steroids for headaches are usually given for suspected Giant Cell Arteritis, but other blood tests [ apart from the raised white cell count] should be done i.e

ESR CRP.

Thank's bower he did mention arteritis I do have swollen painful hands each morning

I have Giant cell arteritis [ 15 years ] I hope you don't have it however, the best treatment is steroids for GCA.

Ah well bowler has given you a very good answer. For arteritis, and RA one can have high white blood cell count and raised ESR, CRP, inflammatory markers. Do you know if they have been tested? Do you get copies of blood tests? Very worthwhile having, it means you know what has or not been tested, what changes over time with what treatment etc.

Hi Marre no I don't know what they test for but I will ask for copies of my blood test on my next visit thanks
