Hi

Is a tingling sensation in the hands and face a b12 symptom?

The peripheral neuropathy associated with a B12 deficiency tends to start in the feet first, then the hands.

You need to see a neurologist.

Does it always start in feet and hands? Mine started in arms and now all over my body, specifically back and legs.

Hi

Thanks for your response.

I’ve noticed a tingling sensation in my face and head on and off for some time but last night and this morning it was in both hands and facial muscles. Never had it in the feet.

Me neither. Have it everywhere else though. Used to have it in hands but not now. Very bad in back from. Neck down, into back , all over legs.

I'm not sure if it always starts there. The best I can do is this extract:

Diminished vibratory sensation and proprioception in the lower extremities were the most common objective findings. A wide variety of neurologic symptoms and signs were encountered, however, including ataxia, loss of cutaneous sensation, muscle weakness, diminished or hyperactive reflexes, spasticity, urinary or fecal incontinence, orthostatic hypotension, loss of vision, dementia, psychoses, and disturbances of mood. europepmc.org/abstract/med/...

Again, you'd need to see a neurologist to find out what is causing it.

Hi Alfabeta have you had your B12 and Folate levels tested by your doctor?

A Folate deficiency can also cause numbness and tingling in the feet and hands as well as other symptoms similar to a b12 deficiency.

I am not a medically trained person but I've had Pernicious Anaemia (one of many causes of B12 deficiency) for more than 46 years.

I wish you well.

Thank you, Clive. I’m a vegetarian with a diet high in folate and I take a multivitamin daily so I think my folate should be all right. I looked up Paresthesia in relation to b12 and most sites said it was a symptom of b12. I’m 17 days away from my next jab so I’m probably a bit low on b12 at the moment although I supplement daily.

Have a good Christmas
