NEED HELP WITH SOME TEST RESULTS.

i have recently had blood tests as i have been ill for 15 weeks,cough, cold, tired breathless, trouble sleeping, no energy, toe nail failing off, bad appitite, moody and tearful. ive had lots of antibiotics and have now been given two inhalers. my iron level came back at only 2.8 so my doctor put my on two iron pills a day and said he would see me in four weeks,but that he wanted me to have a b12 blood test to check it. the level for b12 has come back at only 22.7 and the doctor is going to discuss these results with me in two weeks??? should i be worried because i feel worried now. what should i do??????

22.7 or 227?

If 22.7 he should call you in straight away and start B12 injections - go back and see him.

thanks for the answer. i was told it was only 22.7 by the doctors receptionist twice when i asked her to confirm it and that my doctor would discuss this with me in two weeks. im going to ring the doctors and hopefuly get a appointment for monday as im really worried even if my doctors not!!!

Get to your GP tomorrow if possible and get loading shots of b12 then ask for a retest of levels in one month. 22.7 is very very low I'm surprised you can even get out of bed! My levels were 74 and my GP rang me to come in the next day.

Make sure you take Folic acid (5mg) daily when you have an injection. Your GP can prescribe high dosage ones.
