Hi Pete

Where is your pain, and what are thee causes? My pain is in my neck and lower bacf with pain coming and going in all my joints, I have been told this is arthritis of the spine, I have had two spinal decompressions and suffer through the spinal cord being compressed so I know what my problem is, among arthritis in the rest of the joints.

Also I live in England and from what you are saying do you live in East Philadelphia in the USA?

Kindest regards

Terry

hi Pete,

I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain.

you are not alone anymore.

here people understand.

could you write a little more?

regards,

sandra.

Pete, pain is a bugger. It never leaves you alone, wears you down and throws in variations just for kicks.

Theres plenty you can do exploring the alternative therapies. They will not directly reduce your pain but will help to relax you, reduce the feeling of helplessness and give you some control. Mindfulness and meditation will help you to see your pain differently, and will clear your head so you can think straight. Theres also pain clinincs which again will give you tips on how to cope better.

Workwise, you can be self employed and that does not affect any benefits you are getting. There are so many part time and work from home opportunities these days, brush up on your skills and try some.

Feeling an outcast? is that about you or is it the way others treat you? either way, you need to find a way that allows you to live your life and your friends and family should help you come up with ideas to include you the best way possible.

Hi Pete, Pain is incredibly hard to deal with. I would suggest you first find out what is causing it. After a long conversation with a specialist I was sent to by my GP. After I had a steroid injection in the spine,I still had not been told what the problem was and just picked up the word arthritis here and there. Before I left I insisted he write down the medical term for my condition, also the worst it will get and any options open to me. I am now at the stage where I just have to find ways to make my life easier, for example, hand rail on my bed, raised toilet seat, walker to get to the shops, lumbar cushion on my chair. The govt have been very good in providing most of this. I managed to get a mobility scooter given to me which is going to come in very handy in the future.I found this via a social network site called streetlife. Here people ask for goods and offer them, all for free.

I hope things get better for you, this site is brilliant, you will get lots of help and advice and we are all in this together, living daily with chronic pain.

As for feeling an outcast, not sure in which way you mean that but as you will see there are so many people in the same position as you, You are no different from anyone else, you are just trying to deal with your pain and getting on with life. I wish you all the best and welcome on board this site. lot,s of good people on here, cheers Ann

Hi Pete we seem to have a lot in common as we are both male both 58 both in pain I have recently been diagnosed with having the Chronic Pain Syndrome .I am on Pregabalin 3x100 daily it helps but it does not take the pain away a Tens machine also helps when my legs are so sore and weak. I have a part time job and when sore at work i pop some of my Cocodamol 30x500 mg pills. After work I get home and go to my bed with another 2 painkillers.Life is hard at times but you have just got to keep going never never give in to pain but fight it fight it with all you have got. Just remember the people on this site understand just email whenever you want to you will get a reply. I wish you and all the others like us well and never never give in or up .
