Pain unbearable in the middle of my back, is it my spine or muscular?

For some years now I have lived with DDD, M:E, Raynaud’s disease and in the last year Heart Arrhythmia and now arthritis in my big toe.

A lot right, that’s what I think. Too many different problems that could perhaps when the dots are added up amount to one big thing???

In the last 6 months I have had unbeatable pain in my back, it takes my breath away and I can do nothing but rock. No amount of painkillers are helping it and I’m getting very anxious something else is happening again.

I already have 5 injections on my left shoulder because the pain is too much and now I have to wonder what else is going on.

That’s not only the problem, I can’t seem to wee properly, it seems like an eternity trying to go for a simple wee. They did fit a catheter but took it out 2 weeks later with no follow up. Now it’s starting again. I am however awear it could be my medication playing tricks so am also looking in to that.

The specialist have decided to do an MRI on my back because I was so distressed they apparently have decided that it’s better to reassure me.

Thoughts please if you can, I think that maybe Im missing something. I am having days where I seriously can’t cope anymore. Many thanks for reading

I could always bring my MRI scanner with me and meet you half way and scan ya, but we all know alas I don’t have one anymore as I sold it to your local NHS, without looking and no medical training I think you would be wise to get up at 6am to get an appointment with your GP he’ll probably tell you what he thinks.

Back pain is the one thing after toothache that I consider the Pitts of Hell in pain ranking.

All the best with your quest for the answers you seek.

Thank you for your reply, I will have to wait for the MRI I guess to see what exactly is going.

To much I guess 🙄

You are looking for a diagnosis followed by effective treatment for that diagnosis. This may not be able to happen. Diagnosis is not the same as cause. You are going to need to do your on research and examine various options that are available from the complementry medical camp.

Suggest you see a McTimony chiropractor. They can help with muscle over contraction issues. This is not something that the Medical profession know anything about. Alexander Technique can help you look at how you use your muscles so that you can help get reduced pain. Meditation and mindfulness can help you gain a handle on how your emotions affect pain. All the previous will take time as it takes time to learn how you actually function particularly as you have probably never looked at yourself in any close detail.

Sleep is important as sleep deficits will reduce the ability to fine tune muscle control. Research has shown that the brain gets rid of waste products when it is sleeping not when it is awake. So it is worth finding ways to catch up on the disturbed sleep you have had at night.

Work on reducing the little stresses. The big stress is too big to handle. The body mind has a system stress breakdown point. Below the stress breakdown point you function. Above it things fall apart. So you need to work to find ways of keeping your stress below the stress breakdown point. I.e examine and observe yourself to notice the things that you do and their effect on you. Often there are a numerous ways of doing the same thing so you can adopt a method that has a reduced stress.

Hope I have been helpful.

You have been so helpful John, thank you so much for your input. I have been considering meditation due to the fact of my stress levels are beyond breaking point at the moment.

Calmness is a powerful but hard emotion to gain in the face of reality.

I will of course keep you updated.

Many thanks again
