hurts me that is.

I have one of the lightest possible duvets, a single mulberry silk one. I used a microfibre blanket up to now but it's too cold at night now.

anyone found a lighter one?

regards,

sandra.

Hi Sandra. I haven't got an answer for you but Just to let you know you are not alone. Sometimes the seams on clothes make my skin hurt, or the label in the back of a neck seam. It's a horrible feeling, but I'm lucky that I don't feel it every day. Hope you find something that works. Larraine

Gosh, I thought this only happens to me. I cant lie on my left hip, I can't lie on my good hip because the pain from the bedclothes really hurt my left hip.I sleep on my back with a wedge under my knees. Does your duvet hurt a particular place. Could you sleep with one of those snuggly things. Have you thought about an eletric blanket. I have never had one but I think there are some that you some that you can leave on all night. I have seen a fleecy one that you can lie on...maybe something like that with your microfibre blanket.I hope you find something to help you.

Seams on clothes also cause a lot of discomfort especially side seams on pants, fortunately there are a few makes around with back seams.

I have CFS/ME and occasionally I have a strange symptom whereby it hurts to stroke my skin and clothes are painful against it. It follows at that time that even bedclothes hurt my skin and I cannot bear to have them on me. Fortunately this does abate and tends to come in cycles. However, I get very cold when throwing the bedclothes off! I find heat makes it worse so tend to prefer to be cold which is a bit mad. Anyway, just thought I would mention that such sensitivity can be a medical symptom or reaction to prescribed drugs akin to restless leg syndrome. I have yet to find an answer so just weather sleepless nights for a while until things return to normal.

I forgot to say that I do have a good quality cotton sheet between myself and the duvet. That way if I throw off the duvet (many times in the night) I still have a cool light covering on me. That does seem to help a bit: on the one hand its lightweight and on the other hand its cool. Coldness seems to make my skin less sensitive whereas heat makes it all much worse.

Try a memory foam bed this will help you sleep as they are very good to relieve pressure on the body. If you have problems in the neck you can get the same If you are really posh you can go the hole way and purchace a adjustable bed they remove pressure of desired parts of the body. Also why not got the whole hog and get an electricaly operated chair as well.

HSL do both and have a site that have failed sale models for seats where you can save money on these. One good thing you can get vat relief on these box of tricks that HSL can deduct at point of sale. These items help remove stress on joints. Sorry I do not know about duvets It is now posssible too use an electric blanket on memory foam

So good luck keep taking the tablets

r-bell I have all three! I bought my bed 2nd hand 3 yrs ago and put a memory foam topper on it. unfortunately the topper slides and sometimes I nearly slide off with it!

my clothes hurt too and I wear my knick's inside out as cutting labels out doesn't work.

I have two little budgies who weigh two ounces sopping wet and have days when I cannot stand them on my hand.- try explain pain to a budgie!

thanks all.

When I bought my memory foam mattress topper, years ago, it said do not use with an electric blanket as it affects the topper's properties.

if problems continue, I might have to take my topper off.

[ooh matron!]

Sandra, good to see you still have your sense of humour. Two things spring to mind. 1) quite old fashioned but they do the job - a bed frame which sits over the body and keeps the bedclothes from making contact. You could probably get this from a mobility aid supplier.

2) a patch only available on prescription. It is applied 12 hourly and contains a local anaesthetic. This may help if it is peripheral nerves that are firing off. It is called Versatis, not a cheap item but effective for the right patients. Manufacturers market it for post Herpetic neuralgia.

Worth a try :)

Can't be of any help what so ever. Wish I could. Here is hoping that you find a solution.

I tried versatis patches a few years back on my face. Problem was that the light touch from the patch made the pain worse! Doesn't mean it would happen to you (I am odd anyway) but just something to bear in mind. Have heard people say the patches are very good.

Just to let you know Sandra that you're not alone with the sensitivity thing. I have nerve damage in my legs - postherpetic neuralgia - and I cannot wear any firm of trousers as the slightest pressure fires the pain off. It's very frustrating :( have you found anything that helps yet?
