Hi I have suffered with chronic nerve pain since 2012 due to a prolapse repair. Anterior and posterior. Bladder and rectum. I never knew that nerve pain could be so bad .eventually after trying so many meds the only thing that really calmed the pain was amitriptyline and pregabalin together. Not even my gp new what to do for me and it wasnt till I got to see a surgeon on the nhs in london to be told I needed to be taking these two meds together and she was so right. I get flare ups now and then but I can cope with these but my quality of life improved I could continue on with life. Hope this helped. P.s was prescribed so many different brands of pregabalin in the end it had to be the one and only lyrica.
Hi. I am so pleased to read that you have found the perfect solution to control your nerve pain.
It’s something that is so difficult to treat as so many nerves can be damaged and it appears near impossible to find out which nerve is damaged and where the damage area is.
I’ve suffered with Diabetic Neuropathy since 2009 affecting my lower legs - toes ankles are so painful 24/7
Can’t feel my feet or calf areas.
I also have serious Spinal Stenosis which is now worse since I had a spinal operation to stop the Sciatic being trapped by the vertebrae.
Now a disc has prolapsed making everything worse and difficult to walk with the sciatic nerve pain in my buttocks and down my left leg.
Why has consultant taken you off duloxetine if it helps pain? There are plenty of antidepressants that can be taken with duloxetine. I am on lamotrigine 50mg twice a day and mirtazapine 30mg at night but also on 120mg duloxetine for nerve pain.
Tbh she is very good she was concerned it wasent helping my mental health. I will.ask her if i can be on both. Both venlafaxine and duloxetine are the same type of antidepressants snri
I'm sorry you're suffering.Pain is so very wearing. Is there a problem with the 2 drugs together if the Duloxetine was working for the pain?
I take Duloxetine with Oxycodone which is morphine, morphine patches didn't touch it but Oxycodone and Oxycet make life worth living for me.
If it's not compatible, can you work out which is worse to live with, dealing with the pain which you know Duloxetine helped, or dealing with the depression, which often is brought on with constant pain?
Life is full of conundrums isn't it!!
I hope you can find something that suits you quickly as it sounds like you've got enough on your plate, take care, Hugs xx
Hi, I’m Isobel from the UK. Do you know what has caused your chronic nerve pain? I have chronic peripheral neuropathy pain diagnosed as caused by the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin. Others in same category are Levofloxacin, Moxifloxacin etc. I ask everyone with unknown source pain, have you ever taken one of these? I have in the past taken Amytriptiline but wouldn’t take it again. All the best.
I have a severe neuropathy that required surgery but I was left misdiagnosed and neglected. I know pain.
I took Nortriptyline for over ten years but I’ve found Amytriptyline to be more effective for pain. Have you tried it?
What about Robaxin? It contains methocarbinol. Wonderful for muscle aches and spasms. Have you tried it?
I did get my surgery and it saved my life. I had to hire a registered nurse consultant to advocate for me as doctors in Vancouver would not help me. I’m lucky to be alive and I’m healing ever so slowly.
