Had car accident in 2012 I had a prolapse disc,

Always had pain but not bad 3 years ago this started more, went doctors give me pain killers and Pregbalin. 2023 July sent me to physio, I ended up telling them it just aggravates the problem, they were going to escalate the case, my wife says It’s like I have terrets as I keep trapping a nerve, I waited hoping to see a specialist, had appointment thru only to find it was for physio again, I went mad at them as I feel I have wasted 12 months and no farther forward , i believe it is just delay tactic and that they want people to go private. Yesterday I could not walk stand or sit without pain , I am not sleeping at 67 I feel finished, I will just pay and try to get sort the nhs is finished but don’t use delay tactics

Sorry for ramble

Hi Abergele, have just seen your post and you are not rambling especially not to someone who has the exact same, I am just so sorry to hear of the pain you are going through as I have eternal back pain myself. Yes I have also had physio and whilst there had acupuncture as well and no it did no good for me either.

I do, and please believe me know exactly what agony you are in as it is like a spasm when the pain hits and although you need help nobody dare touch you as it hurts to even move your little finger, there is no way anyone can get near you.

Have been to rehab and sat with others to talk about it but pain so bad, did no good and it did help me, also had facet joint injections x 2, tried both hot & cold treatment on my lower back and no this did not work either, in the end I had to go to see a pain management doctor who over 20 years ago now started me off on a array of tablets including: Baclofen, Gabapentin, MST slow release Morphine, Diazepam, Clonazepam, and last but not least Liquid Morphine which is a "top up" and I have a bottle a week.

The reason for all this is because I bent down to put my shoe on after working on a night shift.

The hospital x rayed me numerous times, ultra sound scans and have lost count how many, my back just could not be operated on as if the surgeon did, he warned me that I would end up not being able to walk if operated on. So had to go on all this medication and am still on all of it to this very day, I have a something which helps me walk any distance, a couple of crutches, walking sticks depending on what kind of day and the pain is like, goodness only knows what I would do without this medication as it is the only thing that has kept me going all these years, I will never be the upright woman that I was, this has left me doubled over almost as it hurts even though I am on all this medication.

You dear friend may be lucky enough to have some other kind of treatment and I pray that you find some, if you speak with your G.P then please ask for an x-ray to see what is going on with your back, would have thought your physio should have written to your G.P. and explained that it did you no good, if these tablets are not helping please get them changed as I would not want you to go through the suffering I did.

Please if I can help any further I would be only too pleased to help/advise you, now hang on as there is help for you, lots and lots.

Well that's my rambling and just wish I had seen your post earlier, stay safe x

P.S. you do not have terrets (sorry no good at spelling), if these tabs are not working keep going back to your G.P. and explain to them that physio is doing you no good, of course be polite but make sure it is the same G.P., as like ours now they have combined 3 surgeries and you never see your regular G.P. it is always some locum, heaven's only knows why they have done this.

thank you your reply and support, hopefully I see my Dr on Friday, I will be asking for more investigation, I am tired of being passed around, just delay tactics. Thank you again.

I am not sure where you live, but maybe see if you can get in a pain clinic. It saved me! I am 68 and I get steroid spinal injections every 3-4 months which help immensely. Yes it has been havoc on my bones but I would rather have no or very little back pain

Can appreciate your position, and it seems you may be reasonably close to me. Last talk with doctor felt like he said...."i know you are experiencing more pain and youve been diagnosed depressed, but the way to go is to get you off meds and for you to learn how to suffer better"
