Does anyone have any experience of side effects from radioactive contrast die injected pre x-ray?
Or heard of such.?
I got gout symptoms within 30 hours of such an injection, and am wondering if it was just a coincidence.
Thanks for reading.💚

Hi there, I have had that several times in the past but it was for my back which is broke in 4 places but I never had anything bad due to the radiation injections or nothing that I would put as down to them. Keep posting whatever you find out about it as I am interested in this subject. Regards Poppy Ann
hi, I have had various images with radiation and other types and always been asked if I ever had a reaction. Luckily I don’t have any reaction to these dyes. It’s not something I’ve heard getting gout so quickly my step daughter has been diagnosed with gout it’s a buildup of Uric acid crystals in the joints so I would say it takes time. It is something you have to manage with help from your doctor. Good luck. Kevin
Hi I had a reaction to contrast dye with mri scan years ago. Had hives after it and my back was killing me not sure if this will answer your question
Hello Madlegs1,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing what you think may be side effects to your recent x-ray. I can see that you already have an appointment to see your GP next week for investigation. They are likely best placed to help you. I hope you get some answers and the pain you are experiencing reduces soon.

Hi there that's an interesting out come, not noted in side effects of radiotheraphy but many drugs cause what they call psuedo gout. Do you know what contrast medium they used? it should be on the copy of your contrast report you can ask for the info. I had a gout flare with codiene and hospitals use this regularly for pain in op situations. As paracetamol is not good for more severe pain. If you need a contrast medium in future they may have to give a different one. Hope you have recovered now.
A classic reaction for those of us whose body produces an inflammation reaction. I am histamine intolerant which would give a similar reaction to another responder (hives) and perhaps joint pain. Histamine intolerant folks are advised not to have these contrast dies and also be careful with anaesthetic.
