I am a 68 yr old male who has had lumbar pain for 20+ years now and before my last surgery (I've had 2) my MRI showed my lowest 5 discs are bad. Anyway, last fall I somehow hurt my quadratus lumborem muscle on my right side and the pain has been so debillitating it has rendered me unable to walk on two occasions. My physical therapist did dry needling (which didn't help) so she gave me an exercise to help heal it but the pain keeps coming back. Has anyone out there had experience with this problem ? Any info would be much appreciated
Cheers, Craig

Have you been referred to a Physio? They can usually give you exercises for this condition which should help. I have had operations for stenosis and a disc problem in the last 18 months. I use a website called "back in action "which has taught me how t strengthen my core muscles which acts like a splint. QL is a condition which looks really painful , do you take any pain killers which work?
Thanks for your reply. Yes , I see a DPT for my orthopedic issues and for my Parkinson's disease symptoms. I see her tomorrow and am going to have her focus on my QL again. Like I said in my post, she did dry needeling a few months ago that didn't help but she did give my a few exercises that did help. The problem with having a QL injury with Parkinson's disease is that the disease makes me tense up which seems to trigger the QL spasms. Also, the best way to slow the progression of the Parkinson's disease is lots of cardio and movement exercise which makes it hard to heal the QL. It just keeps coming back. Thanks again for your reply, I really appreciate it.
