I have suffered with back problems for the past 20years which over the last 7/8 years have gradually got worse.
It started of with pain in my lower back which was helped by regular trips to a Chiropractor.
This allowed me to continue walking with my local walking group.
But slowly over the past 7 years the pain has gradually worse with pain in my lower back, down my right leg plus both feel are numb.
I had an MRI scan November 2015 which showed problems at L5/S1 which causes moderate stenosis compressing the L5 nerve root. Feb/2016 had a nerve block injection, this had no effect.
Pain management tried Pregabalin, it did not help.
Pain was so bad now that I could only walk comfortably for 10mins, therefore walking group came to a stop.
Had a private consultation with a spinal consultant who made his own diagnosis of the MRI scan, which was that degenerative scoliosis was producing narrowing @ L4/5 and L5/S1 plus grade 1 spondyolisthesis @ L4/5 level. He suggested a lateral recess decompression surgery which I had December 2017.
Result being that the surgery made no difference and the specialist said that I would have to learn to live with it!
Have tried living with it but GP sent me for a further MRI scan June 2019, followed by another nerve block injection, which also has had no effect.
The pain is slowly getting worse sometimes stops me sleeping have just been prescribed Gabapentin 900mg three times a day, but to date no improvement, GP has nothing else he can offer, therefore I am wondering about trying CBD oil, any advice that might help would be gratefully received?
Thanks.

I started where you are now a long time ago ending up with an internal Hydromorphine pump which drips into the spinal chord about 10yrs ago now. But to be truthful with you even the hospital ask me if I've ever tried the Oil after another 5yrs of pain.
We'll at first I was a bit apprehensive however, in the end I did (after finding it hard to get) & what a difference it has made 😉. I had tried all the CBD oils to no avail after going through about 8 different types but didn't alleviate the pain.
I'm not saying what works for one doesn't work for another, so if you want to start trying the CBD oils, go ahead but please make sure you can get the highest legal concentration. If not go onto the dark web and they will help.
Hi Spursboy. I have chronic migraines/headaches/neuralgia. I have had this week an online consultation with the medical cannabis clinic in London (are you in the UK?). The doctor has prescribed CBD and THC. I need to wait for the pharmacy to contact me. So, I can't tell you if this works at this stage, as I haven't tried yet. However, just wanted to say that you can get prescribed medical cannabis in the UK. It is very expensive but if it gives you your life back, it may be worth a try.
Good luck!
For me..ive tryed numerous forms of CBD oil with no relief in the past.
Past 10 years Ive used medical marijuana high levels of THC n its been a lifesaver after over 20 years of prescription meds that covered my pain like a bandaid n did nothing but cause more med issues.
Nothing will erase my pain 100% but this helps me live.
Its not for everyone, but i hope u can see if the CBD oil or mm is for u .Best to u.
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with pain - it sounds like you've already tried several treatments to help manage the pain; sadly, of which none have been that helpful for you.
Here is a link to an information leaflet about managing pain - the leaflet explains how you can become more active when living with pain and to reduce pain flare-ups:
You mentioned that you're considering CBD oil to help with pain management. Here is a link with information about 'living with pain', and it has some information about different pain management techniques, including the use of cannabis, that you may find useful:
