Hi allWoke up Saturday morning with horrible knee pain. Right knee, front left side is the area. Its a dull aching pain that's stopping me from sleeping and currently hobbling around. Any ideas? I'm 68 and don't normally have any knee issues.... I've got everything else mind... 🙄
Thanks x

sounds like my right knee ...but who knows. Any diagnosis of osteoarthritis in any joints. Mine was fixed with surgery, partial knee replacement, medial compartment, right knee way back in Nov 2015, aged 71.
Thanks for reply Ben, I've got osteoarthritis in my back. I'm hoping it's not that 😔 It's so painful and causing other issues as I'm waiting on fusion surgery of sacroiliac joint and it now feels like trapped nerve and causing numbness and back weakness. Hate getting old, it's crap! 😭
Just reading over your reply jogged my memory. My right knee problem actually started in 2000/2001 ( aged 56/57) when I had my right knee cartilege removed via a process known as keyhole surgery. At that point the operating surgeon identified the early onset of osteoarthritis.
So fast forward to 2014/2015 when the osteoarthritis had well and truly nobbled me at which point the partial knee replacement was done as discussed. My new knee was given 15 year life expectancy ........... say to 2030, that's 6 & half years to go.
Meanwhile my left knee is starting to grumble a bit. Worst of all though are my shoulders where osteoarthritis has well and truly got a grip. Right shoulder has been dealt with with a steroid injection ... no sweat. The left has gone the same way HOWEVER I tripped over the cat one night in mid November 2023 smashed into the floor/door jamb and tore my left rotator cuff tendon and have been in amazing pain ever since, waiting now for a decision on steroid injection, physio or surgery.
Sympathise with you on sacrilliac joint and lower back pain .... good luck with that 😱😱.... had both, but mericfully have it under control with the help of a local Chiropractor.
This getting old stuff ...... who do I apply to asking for my money back 😂😂😂 Good luck with the surgery.
it might be a torn meniscus. I recently had a torn meniscus and the doctor had to repair the tear with a minor arthroscopic procedure. I’m still in recovery mode right now and going to physical therapy for it. I also had the same procedure done on my left knee for the same reason. I hope this helps you. Probably should see an orthopedic doctor who might order an MRI.
It sounds like arthritis to me, dull ache, can throb, clue in keeping you awake at night too. Marked pain is often a torn cartilage (it can burn if it has caught in the knee joint when you walk (it’s very painful).
I have congenital knee defects affecting the patella’ tracking and had my first of 9 surgeries at 22 years old. I had my first TK replacement & patella 3 years ago at 51 (I needed it 6 years before but had to wait until my bones started to harden sufficiently in the perimenopause before I could have the surgery). My left knee needs a tibial tubular osteotomy but it may never happen as my spine is extensively damaged and I can’t balance on one leg to have a brace fitted post surgery, I’ll have to wait for it to deteriorate enough for a total knee replacement and patella.
