help please : why do I have a burning sensation... - Pain Concern
help please
It sounds like your pain, the burning pain, is neuropathic pain, that is pain coming from the nerve itself. It could be that one of the nerves in the face has been irritated by the infection. Can you visit your medical provider? There are treatments for this.
I had that feeling when I was vit B deficient, and again with covid which affects the way you you use B vitamins. Would be worth asking to have vit B12 and B9 (folate) checked, but get a copy of the actual results because deficiency can be hard to diagnose and can happen at any serum level. 'In range' is not enough for some. Other tests can be done to help with diagnosis, but start with those two. Magnesium deficiency can also contribute to neuropathy and is depleted by illness/stress, just like the Bs are, so you could ask for that to be tested too. Best not to supplement B vits until tested as it will skew the results and make it even harder to pin down if you have a problem, and that is common, especially as we get older - anyone over 50 is likely to be lower than optimal. Magnesium is low in most people so even if they won't test, it would be worth getting - I use an oil spray on the skin which means you can start with just a little bit and then build up if you feel ok. Best at night as it helps you sleep. Cheers
