Go to your GP and explain your symptoms. They will do blood test that will confirm/denigh low B12. There could be a multitude of other reasons for your symptoms. It’s not a good idea to supplement with B12 unless you know your levels as high level of B12 can damage your kidneys.

Actually, B12 is a water soluble vitamin that isn't stored in the body - the body excretes excess B12 through urine. They haven't even established an unsafe high level, because B12 toxicity is so rare. You'd have to have other health problems, or be taking an absurd amount of B12, to damage your kidneys.

B12 deficiency can cause a lot of strange symptoms, particularly fatigue. Because I have a generalized clotting disorder, when I'm deficient in certain vitamins I actually end up anemic, and end up with mysterious bruises that take forever to fade. A simple blood test can show a deficiency - and if you are majorly deficient, the doctor can order weekly or monthly injections until your back to normal levels.

And while I disagree with the person saying that too much B12 is likely to be toxic to you, I do think that it's better to get labs done if possible. Otherwise you can waste a lot of time and money searching for exactly what you're deficient in. Because there are a lot of overlaps in symptoms of (for example) vitamin D deficiency compared to B12 - both of which are common in vegans and vegetarians.

I'd also add that, while I recognize there are cultural reasons that might impact this choice, fasting is generally a very bad idea health wise. The vitamin deficiencies and issues of dehydration are just a start. It can also put you at a higher risk of gallstones and abnormal heart rhythms, or result in dangerously low blood sugar.

If you are fasting for cultural reasons - or to address a specific medical condition - you should look at supplements specifically designed for who fast regularly. A maybe look into electrolyte capsules or powders to help with the hydration issues. They are marketed largely for hangovers, but I experience chronic dehydration regardless of how much water I drink, and the capsules have helped manage those symptoms for me.

Thank you for replying , he's I've looked into electrolytes before but haven't gone a head with them, I've tried to up my fluid but it is no where enough I know it isn't. I fell into fasting by mistake and kind of stuck with it and it works for me (weight) but I do feel groggy a lot of the time .
