Pain returned after 7 years

Hi to you all...l hope you are having a good pain day.I suffered acute pain back in 2015 after contrating hepatitis B....pain off the scale, in short total agony mostly in my arms and legs but anywhere really. I saw numerous doctors and the only diagnosis I ever received was reactive arthritis. After approximately 1 and half years the pain disappeared over the course of a few weeks. Since 2016 I was taking 100 mg of Tramadol every night which kept me basically pain free. However, if l caught a virus of any kind l would suffer some mild pain mostly in my legs. I would just take additional 100 mg of Tramadol for a few days until the virus cleared and l would be back to pain free. Also if l forgot to take the Tramadol at night again l would suffer the same mild pain.

About 2 months ago l felt some sharp pain in my right elbow and l thought l must have knocked it somewhere....then pain in my left elbow, and over the next week the pain spread to almost everywhere in my body (l was feeling unwell for a few days before)...except my head, stomach and upper back....not as bad as before but bad enough 7 to 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

I retired to Thailand in 2018 from the UK. I have seen a couple of doctors out here and they believe it's stress related....l am 68 and have two children, a boy 6 and a girl nearly 2....they are great kids but a massive handful...my son has hyperactivity and takes medicine for this.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestion to help on this major flare l would be most grateful. I really thought l had seen this condition off....but no such luck.

My apologies for the long post....many thanks to you all in advance.

Have you ever thought of Lyme disease?

Symptoms sound familiar?😢🤕

I have reactive arthritis atm, I’m 65 ,mine is from pneumonia and pleurisy which I didn’t know I had, and triggered the reactive to start. It is the most painful debilitating condition I’ve ever had so I know what you mean, I was give oromorph which helped , as it put me in a wheelchair and I couldn’t do anything at all for myself!! I am now on steroids which has got it under control to some degree ..I’ve been told by my rheumatologist told if it’s no better in 2months I will need to go on methotrexate which I’m not sure i want to but have no choice if they remove the steroid as I can feel it returning! I was told that everyone has reactive it’s just if you have some illness that triggers it . So perhaps you need to see rheumatologist . I hope this helps in some way !

Hi Goose

Howard Schubiner interview.

drchatterjee.com/how-to-hea...

I was sent this link to a podcast with Dr Howard Schubiner who heals chronic pain patients in the US.

He has a 2 step treatment plan and the second part focuses on emotional repressed problems which he says have to be addressed and resolved in order to help the pain.

Let me know what you think.

This podcast has helped me immensely with addressing my chronic pain.

Dr Schubiner also has a workbook with a self-directed one month program called Unlearn Your Pain. That's also the name of his website. I also want to mention:youtube.com/@RaelanAgle

She addresses Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which I do not have, but I find her interviews fascinating and uplifting. I recently saw one with a guest who took on her own self-healing and found out later that the antibiotic, Cipro, she had taken various times for UTIs was most likely the biggest contributor to her debilitating conditions.

God bless you for for taking care of young children! Good luck!

Hi Goose1235, Tramadol is not good for your stomach and even worse for your bowels. It should be taken in short bouts and preferably in addition to laxatives. Your dose is too high and you overdosing is making your addiction to it even worse.

What I don't understand is why you took them to get rid ofa virus rather than seeking antibiotics or medical intervention. Your children need you to be as well as possible. So leaving this virus to replicate or change into something else in your stomach/body I find absolutely baffling to be honest. Could the new pains be due to the virus or an additional side to your already known health issue? Please see a gp and ask to be referred to a rheumatologist. Your gp needs to take blood and you need to be 💯 honest and to reduce and then stop the tramadol and get something else for your pain and the new symptoms. I hope it all goes well for you. All the best 😍
