Hello everyone, this is my first post, thank you for having me. I would like to know what is the best medication I can take for arthritis in my knees, hips, lower back, neck etc, constant pain is dragging me down,, I cannot do much housework or gardening anyway. I have Afib, on Flecainide for that and Crestor, Zoloft, Idaprex for b/p, so being on all these tablets I do not like taking Mobic for pain and wondering if anyone could suggest a tablet that won’t interfer with all my medications, thank you very much.

As a retired nurse I would not reccomend as what helps one person might agree with another,I would suggest you contact your GP and let them suggest something.

Have you seen the Pain Toolkit website? It has lots of information about non-pharmalogical things you can do.

paintoolkit.org

Also, it depends on what type of arthritis you have. Have you been diagnosed with a particular type? There are over 200 types of arthritis and some medications work better with some types.

I agree with Annette, best to discuss this either with your GP or with a pharmacist who might actually know better than a GP about drug interactions.

CBD drops spray or vape it’s the best way and natural so you can rub it in the area of pain direct or take orally or vape or use all three ways it’s your choice. It’s legal to buy online in the uk anywhere now if the nhs won’t prescribe it for you the best version to look for online is full spectrum CBD from the hemp plant you don’t want the version from hemp seeds though as it’s not as strong on pain relief I hope this information helps you just to add I’m using it myself right now it beats all pharmaceuticals and is better for your health.

Thank you Herman69, I shall see if I can get CBD drops spray or vape in Australia where I live, I agree with you it will be much better than taking pharmaceuticals.

Sorry your having so much pain…. I could not take statins with my psoriatic arthritis because these pills added to my already crippling pains that I already have…. I have used everything under the sun to help alleviate my PSA pains and found Australian Dream Cream has worked well for me (not a cure) and for my back and hips I also use lidocaine patches or Biofreeze extra large patches at bed time again (not a cure) but definitely takes the edge off of constant pains and magnesium relaxes me for bed time without magnesium my mind would race with thoughts of pain… horrible (consult) your doctor before taking Magnesium.

Magnesium has a way of creating more frequent trips to the bathroom also.

How well do you know your pharmacist/chemist? Suggest you speak with them about what medications you are currently on and what suggestions they have for a different arthritis medication. You can then share that info with your gp and obtained a new prescription.

I wonder if you are asking the right question ?...... My suggestion is t avoid pills get hold of a non-pharmacological toolkit, do a lot for reading and questioning about your type of arthritis, lookout to changing your diet and aim for alkaline. So cut out sugar, cakes, coffee and many comfort foods .... Use fresh veg. I have PSP and the best diet is 'mediterranean organic' Good for so many of us! Best of luck, and keep the good humour! Hi Purplewalls

You don't seem to be in a good way with all your conditions/medications.

Due to intolerances/allergies to medications I can't take any prescriptions for osteo/rheumatism/soft-tissue injuries/permanent chronic pain.

What I can take for my osteo and neck cracking is 750mg glucosamine HCL (hydrochloride, not sulfate) +250mg shark chondroitin twice daily to rid the hand and neck pain.

For pain throughout my body I use a local heated pool for pain relief and exercise.

Whatever you choose to do, you should consult with your dr before changing your health care regimen, as your situation seems complex in regards to medication.
