I’ve been suffering with intense foot/ankle pain in both of my feet for several months now. It only starts when I’m working after being stood up for a while and when I rest they become incredibly stiff and sometimes so stiff I have difficulty walking or standing. It’s starting to affect my life outside of work as some days I’m unable to walk for some time due to the intense stiffness and pain. I took over-the-counter cocodamol and it provided little relief. I’m also slightly flat footed and I pronate when I walk so I do wonder if it could be to do with that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

It sounds like you should as for a referral to a podiatrist. They are the experts in everything below the knee. People who pronate and have flat feet often end up with arthritis which could be part of the stiffness. Rather than co-codamol have you tried Ibuprofen? That might cut down on the inflammation.
A podiatrist can arrange proper insoles that will stop the pronation and support your flat feet. If you are in the UK in some areas you can self refer but in others you have to go through your GP. And in some enlightened practices they have a podiatrist in the team at the surgery.
I have the same pain is horrendous. It is linked to my rheumatoid arthritis. Hospital docs have tried a lot of meds for me but nothing works. Also my own doctor has tried like ibuprofen, paracetamol, tramadol. To many to mention also meds for nerve pain. It like tie rubber bands on your fingers that are so tight. Horrid pain.
I had terrible pain in my feet. Saw a specialist and it was caused by narrowing of arteries in my legs. Prescribed low dose aspirins, one a day and to my surprise it worked. Your problem could be different. I hope you find what is causing your pain.
Hi, I have terrible pain in my foot and ankle and after a while I too can't walk properly. I had a nasty fall downstairs and broke my foot and ankle with having no treatment for this I have been left with a bad limp and a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which leaves me in agony, the problem is because I have this condition it attacks other limbs and places in my body so I have to be careful about any accidents I have or operations because if I don't get the correct treatment again it will make my pain unbearable. I don't know whether you might have this condition, It is very rare and not many people have it but it is worth asking your doctor. I hope this helps in some way. xx
