Hi…Sorry about all you seem to be dealing with. First of all, I’m not a doctor but I do notice when things aren’t right in my body, so I can certainly sympathize. I get a dry mouth now and then since I have sleep apnea and occasionally forget to put a chinstrap on to keep my mouth from gaping open while sleeping. If you haven’t done one yet, a sleep study will help determine if you have sleep apnea—where you snore a lot and stop breathing sometimes several times overnight and then suddenly wake up gasping for air. It’s not fun but having a constant air pressure machine keeps your airways open. From what I can see of your mouth if you still have your tonsils, they look like mine did before the doctor finally removed them. The pain on roof of your mouth could be from eating something that scratched it or a reaction to certain foods—fresh pineapple has an enzyme that does not like my mouth and will leave painful red sores unless I also eat papaya at the same time (not sure but they must balance each other out). You might also have some acid reflux going on—and the easiest way to avoid that other than taking antacids or medicine like Prevacid is to elevate your head and chest while sleeping, like an extra pillow or a wedge shaped pillow underneath the upper part of your body while you sleep. Phlegm can also be a reaction to certain foods—like fast food, deep-fried food or milk—or it may have something to do with your tonsils or sinuses. One final thing I’m noticing is your tongue, and it might be from the reflux, but it appears as though you have some light residue there that is part of the dry mouth feeling you have. The best way I have found to keep my tongue healthy (besides trying not to bite it) is brushing it with the toothbrush while I’m brushing my teeth. It looks pink and healthy afterwards and improves my breath. Anyway, best wishes to you and try not to worry—I have found that just makes things worse. Try to get yourself to the doctor and take care.
