Hi, I was wondering if anyone suffers from a pituitary Tumor , as I have done since 1999, and their views on Bromocriptine and carbagoline. Thank you.
Pituitary Tumor .: Hi, I was wondering if... - Pain Concern
Pituitary Tumor .
My late husband had a pit tumour, he took Cabergoline for a few years, no problems with it.A neighbour also has one and she had surgery however she still has residual tumours left.
I was taken off carbagoline some eight years ago, for a drug holiday as they then called it, and they never gave it to me again. I spent years on it, having blood tests each year to determine my prolactin levels, which where elevated at 800. Even though my prolactin levels range between 600 and 680, (considering normal levels for a man are between 200 and 300) they are now saying that they can’t understand the reason why my prolactin is high, as my testosterone levels are normal, as high prolactin causes reduced testosterone, and mine are ok. After 20 years or so of taking this drug, it’s taken them nearly 20 years to come to this conclusion.leaving me feeling that I have taken both bromocriptine and carbagoline until the last 8 years or so for no reason at all. All that they say is they don’t know the reason, nor does it seem they are interested in finding out why. After all of these years I had a telephone conversation with them during lock down, saying they are thinking of discharging me from their care, even though my prolactin is it elevated over and above normal level, with no explanation at all.
Maybe get a second opinion.
I have similar with liver function, levels have been way over range for 15 years, had all the tests, scans and biopsy yet they still don't know why so they've lost interest.
