Pulsating vein in top right forehead

I noticed a vein keeps popping out on the top right side of my forehead. It does pulsate when I put my finger on it. I’m 20 years old and have been under A LOT of stress should I be worried?

Hi Shadowpratt. You need to go and see your GP. I don't believe that at your age you can get Giant cell arteritis, and from what you're saying it is not painful, but anything that has to do with your head, stress or not, you need to get that checked.

You take care!

And right I agree I had a brain MRI done back in July results came back normal this vein is more recent it appeared about two weeks ago. But yes as you said I’ll check it out with my primary care physician.

veins like that are very common, and for the most part if there are no other symptoms it is not a medical emergency in any way.

However, one of the things that can cause veins to bulge like that is stress, and you say you have been stress, so it might be a good idea to talk to your GP about it.

Understood that makes perfect sense.

The only other symptom I get are headaches and they are most likely due to my stress. Because I’ve been having chronic stress to be honest since the past 6 months so I definetly need to get my stress under control as you mentioned.

As Cheo11 my Mum unfortunately had a similar thing but also suffered from chronic migraines. Following a biopsy of the vein and scans the diagnosis came back as giant cell arthritis. Treated with steroids and am pleased to say is fine now, still has migraines but not as bad as they were. Get it checked out with your GP. Hope it is just due to stress though, fingers crossed for you.

My GP checked it today and said it’s fine no big deal. He said Main people who are predisposed to getting giant cell arthritis are women, 50 years or older and of European decent. And since I am 20 year old African American and not over 50 or a women he said I don’t fit any of the criteria’s for giant cell arteritis. He reassured me it’s defiantly not giant cell arteritis in my case so no big deal for me most likely from too much stress.

Hey! I don’t know if you’ll still see this, but I’m having the same issue and I’ve been under a lot of stress. I’m 19 years old. Did it ever go away or fade? And how long did it last if so? Thank you!
