Weak painful knees and painful feet

hypothyroid and 2 stone over weight.I have very high arches! I have a shuffle walk in the morning as my feet are tight, painful. Knees are hopeless, very creaky and crunchy too!

I’m only 48 but if I have to kneel on the floor to clean, pick things up etc I have to hold on to something to get back up?

But I can easily walk miles with my dog without pain?

Has anyone had anything like this? My knees have been crunchy for about 10 years and I’ve never had them looked at.

Husband is convinced it’s related to my weird feet....

Looking for advice, shoe supports, gait analysis, do I visit the doc?

If you haven't seen a podiatrist, it would be definitely worth seeing one now. They are experts at everything from the knee down and should be able to figure out what is going on with your feet. It is possible that what is happening in your feet is causing problems in your knees.

You have high arches in that photo, but you are not putting weight on them. What happens when you stand with no shoes on, does your arch drop? If so you could have functional flat feet. This could be a sign that you are hypermobile.

My toes hardly touch the floor my husband said!

The arch is still there when I stand. I can hardly walk up and down stairs today. Thank you for your advice. Would I get a podiatrist referral or is it best to book direct?

It depends on where you are. In some areas you can book directly, in others you have to be referred by a GP. Check out your local NHS trust's website.

I do have some Skechers and yes they’re super comfy. I think I need more arch support now. Sorry to hear you’re suffering with sore knees. Have you had this for long? x

Yes if your in any kind of pain you should visit ur gp and there can be many other reasons why you have this pain i suffer from a mixture of things from fibromalgiya to hypermobilty and flat feet which I think you have and maybe also have knock knees I would definitely suggest dont sit around with pain and contact ur doctor xx

Thank you. Since posting this I have a shoulder problem which I am thinking may be a frozen shoulder, dr thinks it’s a little strain. As it was a telephone consultation I couldn’t discuss my knees, but to be honest they feel a little better so maybe my brain is now dealing with my painful shoulder. It’s funny that my pharmacist has mention fibro to me more than once.

I’ve been prescribed Naproxen.

Thanks for this, doc said give me shoulder 3 weeks to get better and maybe call again if it’s not better. I was very reluctant to call as the current situation is so bad, but being in pain and not sleeping became rather too much...

Naproxen and Omeprazole to protect my stomach from it.

I can only lift my arm straight out in front and no higher at the moment. I feel as if I must get random aches and pains in different places! Including my little fingers xx
