Restless legs and feet

Can anybody help me with burning feet, sometimes called restless legs. From about 7pm until bedtime I have to sit with my feet in a bowl of ice cold water. I cannot go to the pictures or evening events. I have been on Ropinorole but it seems worse. I have cut out caffeine completely as suggested on line. Any help please !!!

Hello, the only way to rid yourself of restless legs is to chop them off every morning and eventually it will stop.

You need some Quinine available on prescription or Indian tonic water but please check it has Quinine in. It’s a horrid feeling, do this ASAP

Hi Philip. I have bought tonic water with quinine in today, I was careful to check that it had quinine in.

Hi Gascoigne,

I expect your GP did a blood test before prescribing anything, but just in case not, do ask for one. Certain deficiencies exacerbate and even cause restless legs and taking a simp!e supplement can help. Beyond that, sorry I can only sympathise, I get it myself and will follow the thread in case anyone can suggest something. I have taken prescribed quinine tablets but didn't notice a difference, not to say they won't help you though, certainly worth a try.

Good luck,

Jo

I was not able to make a Dr's appointment but have reduced the ropinirole and also bought Tonic water with Quinine in it today as suggested by another member.

Hi Clycat. I am not good at this yet. I saw Dr yesterday and I am now off Ropinirole and one 10mg Amytriptalene . My feet have been better morning

and evening these last 5 days after stopping Ropinirole but I am now awake at night for about an hour. I am collecting another drug for my sleep and headaches which Dr thought may help. Yes I have headaches every day at some time, I understand it is a disk in my spine pressing on a nerve, I have had injections for this which helped, but would love to cure my feet

There is a type of pain called neuropathic pain that feels like a burning pain. Good luck with your GP today, I hope they find a suitable way of helping you.

I remeber when i had burning feet, it was over 30 years ago as i'd been drinking a lot. it was mostly at night my feet would burn. someone told me to put my feet in as hot water as i could stand and it worked. also i had to take a vitamin b complex as i was quite run down too and it did stop eventually. i hope you get this sorted as its really limiting your life. wishing you well.love grace xoxo

Thank you Grace. I have been doing the opposite. sitting with my feet in cold water this evening. I do take Vitamin B and have today bought tonic water as suggested by another member which I have not tried yet.

please give the hot water a try as you never know it just might work for you. i know it sounds crazy putting your burning feet into hot water but i'v told a few people on this site about the hot water and they said it worked for them. i used to get out of bed in the night as i just could not sleep and i tried the hot water and was amazed that it did work. please let me know how you get on if you try this. thanks grace xoxo

Hi Grace. On visiting my Dr. he took me off Ropinirole also the half a tablet of Zopiclone which I take every night and gave me Clonazepam. This is just not working I go to bed at 10pm and am still awake at 1.30am. Last night I seemed to be awake more than asleep and the balls of my feet and toes were burning. I am not sure what path to take today, I may go into the chemist and speak to the pharmacist. On seeing my tummy consultant yesterday he thought it may be something to do with having Chemo. twice in the last 10 years

When you go to your Dr, ask him/her to prescribe you either Lyrica or Gabapentin. It will stop the pins and needles as well as burning feeling. What it seems like you are encountering is peripheral neuropathy. They will run test to confirm it’s sensory. Mirapex is used for restless leg syndrome as well as Parkinson’s. Good luck
