I’m an 18-year-old girl and I have been suffering from unknown lower back pain for months and it’s worse at night time and In the morning. My doctors say They can feel my back muscles are tight, but could it be ankylosing spondylitis? I’m terrified of ankylosing spondylitis. I am homeschooled so I work at the desk a lot.

Lower back pain
It’s impossible for us to say. Maybe your doctor could refer you for a scan to rule out things. Worrying about something you might have makes you concentrate on it more. As hard as it may seem, try not to focus on it all the time and the only thing anyone on here can suggest is to go back to your GP and discuss things with him and a possible scan.
Hi there,
Thank you for your post, and I'm sorry to hear that you are currently experiencing this. As another user has mentioned, it is not beneficial to stress at the current point without a definitive diagnosis. Stress can often enhance the pain being experienced, and can worsen the effects.
It would be beneficial for your GP to investigate your pain further and perhaps referring you to a scan or specialist to define the issue and source of the pain.
In the meantime, I have linked our pain concern page which has many beneficial pain coping strategies. It is useful to try and stick to your regular routine and activities (although difficult in the current circumstances) as much as you can, not to the extent where you are hurting yourself, but so that the pain you are experiencing is not controlling your life, and you feel like you are more in control of the pain.

It could be something as simple as needing a new mattress. When was yours last replaced?
