Severe lower back pain

Can anyone help? I’ve had the worst lower back pain for almost 3 months. Sometimes I can’t get out of bed properly or lift my legs to get dressed. This eases during the day and especially with walking. I’ve seen a consultant and had xrays and MRI scans and nothing!! Except they discovered spookily that I had 2 inter uterine devices ( one of which should’ve been removed 12 years ago) in the cavity where it should be apparently. Could this cause such huge pain?

Hello, I too have severe low back pain-sorry for yours. I don't know the answer to your question, but have you tried a TENS unit? They sell at Amazon for very low price. Or, your doctor could order at no small charge.

Good luck,

Gina Y

Yes I would say so I can't imagine why the consultant looking at these scans has not arranged for these to be removed straight away . If I were you I would record all evidence and speak to a solicitor if one has been left in without your knowledge or consent this could have caused so much more damage . Good luck best wishes Neil

So I contacted the gyne who did this and went to see her immediately- she tried to charge me 200 for the appointment 😱which I refused to pay. She said in her notes she’d completely removed the coil when replacing it. Was very arsey with me. Then called back twice saying she’d had the x rays examined and they were both in the cavity and no way had I had any back or hip probs from it and she could remove them but wasn’t really necessary. There was nothing to worry about. I’ve contacted a Solicotor re negligence and now waiting to see another gyne to have them

Removed. It’s outrageous x

There is no way she can say wether or not this may cause your back problems. She is clearly at fault for not removing the first one and is trying to cover her arse. The worst specialist are the ones that usually are high and mighty and/or arsy without showing any empathy. The really good ones do not need to behave in this appalling way as they know they are good. Just go ahead with this negligence claim and report her well and truly. They are not Gods despite what some of them clearly think.

Well said Emma, but there is more good than bad surgeons 🤔 I hope so or I might talk my way out of the surgery I need x

I don’t know. You’ll know you’ve found a good one by either past experiences or recommendations from other people (surgeons or patients). To my mind there are a lot of bad consultants out there who were good at passing exams but have little or no flair for the job, they will carry out their job to a mediocre standard but act very high and mighty to cover up their average ability.

I am sure you however will be in excellent hands as it is difficult and you were recommended this surgeon.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain I know what it's like suffering constant pain . On the other hand I'm happy to hear that you are taking control and pushing back at these so called professionals whom you put your trust and often life in their hands . I bet the cow was so surprised when you stood up for yourself if she was negligent and has caused you pain and suffering then she needs to be made aware What she has done and be bought to justice for it . I do hope things go well for you regarding your pain and if your gyno was in the wrong I hope you get some justice on that score. If proven she did something wrong make sure that you are financially Recompensed . All the best Neil

I started with the exact same symptoms as you following a fall. After 18 months I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Eventually the walking only helped for a few steps and then I had to sit again. I got relief from taking zapain 4 times a day. Another 18 months later and I am now taking morphine tablets for the pain. If yours did not show on an MRI then I suggest you see a physio and explain your pain, you will be much better received and get top quality advice on how best to cope. I really do wish you well
