Bad knee pain

I fell really badly onto my knees a month ago. Scraped them up pretty badly to the point it was painful to walk. Now I can't kneel down and put any weight on my right knee without severe sharp pain (about a pain scale of 6 to 7) Kind of like kneeling on a stone with force. The pain lingers for about 5 mins before it goes away. There is no bruising or swelling just pain. Should I go and get it checked out by the doctor? What could it be?

I agree with bananas as I did the same and chipped the cartilage. You need to see a surgeon.
