in the past few years I have developed a pain in my upper outer thigh which is worse if I walk up stair or steep hills. It is v painful if I lie on it at night and wakes me up. I can stop the pain by moving around. It now radiates to my knee and further down my thigh. Often get a burning pain in my groin too. It often feels like referred pain as worse when I hinge forward from hips or carry something heavy particularly on right shoulder. I had prolapsed discs L4, L3,L5 - from 25 years ago so wonder if that’s the problem. I do have pain in my lower back at times but the leg.hip pain is more troublesome. Is really getting me down. I am 57 years old. I am trying to swim a bit as that doesn’t seem to make it worse. Would appreciate any advice, thanks

many thanks for the reply and suggestion of flossing I will look this up. I did have a minor car accident about 4 years ago which is interesting, I also tripped and landed on my right knee a few years ago. Massive pain in right hip at the time and leg went dead for a good h. Didnt even notice the bleeding wound on my knee. Hobbled for weeks. Didn’t see anyone about it as in lockdown so perhaps a factor too, thinking about it.
I have had the same problem for years. I have trichanteric bursitis in both hips and tendinitis. I have exactly tge same pains as you. Ask for an mri to determine what you have. Be your own advocate and do not suffer in silence. Ask to see tge muskuloskeletal physio. If you get that he may inject your hips for pain relief
Hi there,I have similiar pains to my back (had operation to L3 and L4 six years ago)and my left leg, had increased pain to my hip in last 6 months. I was recently been referred to the hip clinic due to my increased hip pains. Turn's out after having ultrasound to my hip, that I have possible labral tear to my hip and now being referred for an MRI scan - for further investigation and treatment.
