Hiya lm a women of 66 , I have arthritis, siatica and I have hot sweats. I’m on a lot of pain killers
Pain killers especially the NSAIDS also are fever reducers and make you sweat. Have your doctor prescribe physical therapy instead. Im 82 and many spine and back problems including arthritis and sciatica....try to go without pills they made me sicker in kidneys.....keep moving stretching daily
Yes pain killers do that, so I go with that ,it’s part of growing old .
Firstly welcome aboard, sorry you are in pain , we are here to help each other if we can , what medication are you taking for your pain.
Oh let me see tramadol pregablin, amitriptyline, and another I can’t remember just now
Hi there, you seem to be on a a lot of medication if you are still in a lot of pain I would make appointment with your GP and see what else you could try , but sometimes we have to live with pain unfortunately I know it's hard but if I had a cure I would share it with you x
I’m on a lot of pain killers because I have siatica and waiting for a operation and because my spine has trapped some nerve s at the bottom of my spine.i was on oramorph for pain but had to come off
I'm 63 & also on amitriptyline (Endep) & tramadol - along with fentanyl patch & good old oesteo panadol. However the specialist (who disregarded everything I told him) has decided that I'm to come off the Endep (the only reason I sleep at night) & Fentanyl (the only way I can actually get out of hed in the morning). I'm to now start Cymbalta. Absolutely ticked-off - & scared. Positive vibes for us all. Thank goodness for these wonderful forums.
Cymbalta is a nightmare drug. Find the Cymbalta blog on Facebook and read about how it has ruined many people’s lives. The side effects and brain zaps it causes are not worth it.
BTW, it did nothing for my pinched nerve pain. I didn’t like how it made me feel dopey, irritable, numb and emotionless. Be very careful.
Thanks, I'll check facebook. But now I'm downright terrified as this is the last resort. My GP is going to go with what the specialist dictated - even though he has seen the difference Endep & Fentanyl have made. I've been on everything, suffered massive withdrawls from a mix of high dosage prescribed meds (where I was actually gouging skin & hair out). I have to at least try it. Or I have nothing.
I'm so glad I found your post again. I didn't want you to think i was dismissive of your advice.
I ended up on 60mg cymbalta. It did nothing for fibromyalgia or arthritis/sciatica/bulging discs etc. I was a drugged out mess in daytime & couldn't sleep st night. Migraines increased & other headaches occured everyday. Lost heaps of weight (well actually that's a positive as am totally overweight!)
My physiologist was so angry at the state i was in that she rang my GP & insisted that he see me asap.
He referred me back to my grumpy uninterested specialist. I was so fed up with the pain that i TOLD him i needed to go back to fentanyl (my hubby was there & added his support.) He gave me another lecture about it's dangers but finally agreed.
So now I'm back on fentanyl & endep & am actually thinking clearly again & planning to return to the seniors gentle exercise ('shuffle-cise' i call it!) at the gym.
Thank you for you concern & advice. Xx
Sounds like me with arthritis sciatica and hot flushes and pot full of med but we get by day by day so keep smiling hugs x
Dead right keep smilingxx
Possible investigate using CBD under the tongue, or DimethylSulfoxide ( DMSO ) topically. Could benefit from one sachet of liposomal Altrient Vitamin C daily. Could be three weeks to see any change.
